To all my fellow Veteran's out there, I'd like to wish you a Happy Veteran's Day. Whether you served or are currently serving, Thank You for doing what most people can't or won't do. Special shout out to all my fellow Combat Vets.

On this very special day, to all those who served in the past and who are serving now Happy Veterans Day. I am grateful to those who served before me, with me, after me, and are serving now for the sacrifices they made so I could enjoy the life I have. I want especially all the Vietnam Veterans to know that despite how so many were treated upon returning home, I was blessed to serve with several of them during Desert Storm. I learned a lot from them as a young 2nd Lt. My prayer is that all future Veterans receive the same treatment from the citizens of this country upon their return home that I received. And to all those families whose family member gave the ultimate sacrifice, your family members life is something I will always cherish.

To all my friends friends, take the time and thank a veteran personally and if you can give them a hug. Show them how much you really appreciate them.

My FIL (no longer with us) was a POW in Korea. He lost his teeth through torture and killed a guard with a shovel but saved himself and another man.

Don't mean to brag but...

I still wear the same size socks I did while in the Army.

Don't know why, but "Happy" just doesn't seem like the right word for Veteran's Day. The day certainly is not as solemn as Memorial, and you wouldn't use "Happy" with Memorial Day. But "Happy" just doesn't seem appropriate.

Veterans Day is for those who used to wear the uniform. Memorial Day is for those who died in service.

Where in the world did you get the impression I didn't know the difference??? Veterans Day is not as solemn as Memorial. Yet, I still think it's odd the word Happy is used in Veterans Day greetings.

Commissioned service for eight years.

I didn't mean to imply you didn't know the basic difference. Veterans Day is usually treated as more of a celebration than Memorial Day is though.
