Seriously, what's the deal with the dress jacket with a built in hoodie?
Saw a guy wearing one to church the other day.
Is this a new thing?

I haven't seen blazer's with a built in hoodie, that sounds odd.

I've seen men's wool coats with them and I do not like. Hoodie + wool coat = fine. But give a man the choice!

upon further research, this makes total sense in cold weather areas

That's what I've seen on the rack!

I love the hoodie + jacket look. Hate the sewn together combo. Can't explain why I like one but not the other. Maybe the sewn together one feels like a poser.

The one that I saw, it was definitely same material. Not just a hoodie under a jacket, but a dress jacket with built in hoodie, same material.

On the other hand, the idea of trying to stuff hoodie sleeves into a blazer seems really uncomfortable. This option is far more practical.

I don't understand the point of this. A hoodie is for when you don't want to put the effort in to think about what you're wearing. A blazer is utterly pointless with a hoodie. You might as well just wear a good coat. But if it's cold enough for a coat, why are you wearing a hoodie?

Looks like something a youth pastor who is trying too hard would wear.

I like that johnston murphy one. It looks nice.

the ones I posted make me think of Texas snowsuits (aka pile on every item of clothing you own in an attempt to make a warm outfit, usually with pajama pants and rainboots)

I lived in NE PA for a couple years. You learn pretty quick that the hoodie is a working man's scarf. Cuts the wind, snow, rain etc. off the neck and head. I, by recomedation from my new yankee friends, adopted the hoodie under the jacket combo. It is very effective. I still use this when it is cold enough or we get cold windy days back home in the Great State.

That siad, I am talking Carhart or ski jacket type stuff. The blazer-hoodie is odd.

I recomend trying it next time you are out in the cold. While the Yanks are an interesting bunch, they have the stay warm piece nailed.
