Slept until 7am. I'll take it!

Met up with an old classmate I had not seen in almost 30 years yesterday. Found him by accident and realized he works close by so got in touch. It was a good mini-reunion.

Many chores and errands today and no Aggie football to distract me.

Need to list something else on the Classifieds board.

Would like to start Christmas shopping. Need to get a jump on that.

Have a day!

A warmer day here in west Georgia/east Alabama. Tarleton State hosts North Dakota in the second round of FCS playoffs. Better to play in 66 degree weather than 11 degree weather. How do people even live there?

A good day starts with good coffee.

Make it a good one in spite of what the rest of humankind is up to.

  • Slept decent.
  • Got up and packed. On the way to Pearland for softball games. 3 today, at least 2 tomorrow (hopefully more).
  • Gonna try to get as much work done in the car before I get carsick.
  • Should be a decent day weather wise.
Hope all my internet friends have a great day!

Will try to win Powerball tonight. Got a good feeling about this one.

Otherwise it's going to be a lazy day. Decided to buy a Christmas tree this year so will be putting that up. Games on in the background. I will probably mop the floor at some point. Laundry. Get organized.

Today seems like a good day for some sort of slow cooked something in the crockpot.

Self-checkout malfunctions are starting to really piss me off. If you're not even going to give me the option to have a real person check me out of the grocery store at least have equipment that works. I just walked out and left all of my groceries sitting there at the self-checkout after it failed to recognize barcodes and made me wait on an employee who was busy helping someone else with the same issue.

I think maybe if more people did this they'd realize they should have at least one person doing the traditional checkout thing. I know I know old man yells at cloud.

- I got up to the nail place early because it's a Saturday and I knew they'd be busy. 15 minutes after opening and every nail tech already has someone, dang! I'll sit here and wait for the lady I prefer.
- I made sausage and white bean soup earlier this week and have a lot left. It's fine but not great. I think I'll throw it out today.
- A husband just brought Starbucks to one of the nail tech women, that's cute.

Yeah, always a fun time - being paranoid about what you eat and drink.

Slept in this morning. Currently watching the Big 12 Conference Championship game, which I'm not terribly interested in. Sunny this morning, but it's supposed to cloud up in the afternoon and top out at 44F. I need to make sure to spend time outside today and enjoy the mild conditions.

Benny has been using Linux for a week or two now and told me yesterday that it's great except for his wireless connection. Turns out he's been using his internal wifi and not the external adapter I'd bought for him. He's had a poor signal. Linux doesn't recognize the external device without installing a driver. I've used Linux for 30 years, so this was a chance to impress my teenager, not an easy thing to do.

I taught Benny how to identify his device chipset, find the appropriate driver (this time in GitHub), use 'make install' to build a kernel-object, and I showed him how to find the 'modules' folder where it was copied. Everything in modules folders gets loaded every time the machine starts. Maybe Dad isn't as dumb as he'd thought?!?

~ I feel like trash. I'd like to go back to bed.
~ I really want to go to the korean spa this week, but I likely won't have time to until january.
~ BYU is not gonna win this game. (i took so long to write this that they have no lost)
~ lazily applying for jobs while at work
~ I haven't had pie in 2 days and I think that's part of why I'm sad today.

What is better about a Korean spa?

The Korean spa in Dallas has a women's locker room where you get buck nakey and there are several jacuzzi tubs at different temperatures, including a cold one that I avoid. A steam sauna in there, too, and you can lay on a table and get your top layer of skin scrubbed the **** off by an old Korean woman who no speakeh engrish. Those women are strong.

Then in the common / co-Ed areas, you wear the uniform they give you and there's 10+ different sauna / meditation rooms, including one that will make you sweat your tits off and another that will make you grow frost on your nose hairs. They have lots of different massage services (the above board kind), a movie theater, couches you can just chill and watch weird Korean tv on, they have a projector that displays a gigantic screen that's usually playing sports, a kitchen to order food, and an indoor swimming pool with jets and splash pad crap for kids. I think they renovated and added karaoke rooms which makes me lol.

You pay one fee to get in to access the locker room sauna and jacuzzis and all the different temperature / featured rooms - and that makes it awesome. But then you can spend more if you want added services like the scrubs or massages.

For me, I like being able to go to a spa and spend time in a saunas before / after a massage or service. Just being left alone to relax in the space. The Korean one just happens to be more affordable than, say, The Joule Hotel Spa that also provides this.

I've always wanted to go to a Turkish bath and get a mud bath/massage. With a US passport, I can't see myself making it to that part of the world, but maybe things will change... I'm also interested in Eastern Orthodox churches, and Istanbul is where the Eastern church is based.

there are some hammam spas down here and I've also always wanted to try that...but they are pricey.

what she said, there are all these different relaxation rooms with different temps/features etc. The scrubs are out of this world, but really, I just want to go soak/relax etc and its like 30 bucks for the whole day.

in katy, been here 3 or 4 times, and I love it. If it wasn't so far away from my place I'd consider a membership:

Before our son was born, Tanya and I were in Houston one or two weekends a month. I've been to three Ethiopian restaurants there. I think this one has closed since I went.

It isn't all beautiful, but Houston has EVERYTHING. Including Turkish baths, apparently.

Coffee and hung out on the balcony.
PBJ omelette for a late breakfast.
Did laundry and made RO/DI water for the tank.
Went out on the motorcycle and it was stormy and windy.
One storm looked like a thunderstorm…in December!
Brewery is doing a toy drive so I donated a Lego set.
Here still at the brewery and Georgia is stomping on Bama.

Also, my pastor (now retired) is actually doing a Biblical Turkey tour next September, only 4k and most everything is included. It should really interesting. Pastor Murray is Lutheran but is very very knowledgeable on church fathers/ancient church history etc. He did Greece this last year and the pictures were amazing.
