With Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and all of its problems (see the latest story posted in the DC thread) hitting theaters just a month latter, it definitely feels like we're reaching some kind of inflection point for both Marvel and DC. It hopefully can't get worse for either, and can only go up from here. But man, what a depressing couple of months for superhero movies.

I seriously doubt it's nothing more than a random licensing image. That's not the official poster.

The two have always been connected so this is hardly news. Still, I bet it's as much a "sequel" as it is to Ms Marvel. As in, we'll catch you up in 5 seconds and otherwise our writing teams didn't really talk to each other much.

Gotcha. I couldn't remember the specifics. I agree it's looking like a worse and worse bet for him…if he ever returns.

I keep thinking he'll come back for Ahsoka in August. If not, I assume he's gone for good. I just hope nothing bad happened to him.

Ticket prices are probably almost double what they were in 2008 so it only has to sell half as many

Eh, I'm more confident than ever in my bet. Especially in light of a number of blockbusters recently that were expected to be massive hits not even coming close to that number.

i think you're 100% correct and that's probably the most damning part about it.

it's one thing for marvel to do bad numbers if the content is lousy, but the notion that a "good" movie wouldn't do well would have been unthinkable a couple of years ago

Honestly if we can move on from superhero movies then I'm all for it. Its been a good run but they manged to make me bored with almost every superhero property there is.

It'll still probably disappoint at the box office, but I think I'll probably enjoy it. Looks like the three leads have some chemistry together at least. Hopefully 1) the villain isn't lame and 2) it's not an over-the-top CGI-fest (it probably will be just due to the setting).

I like Vellani's Kamela Khan and how they've adapted her powers to live action. Captain Marvel is a cool character with fun stories to tell if they can write Larson out of her tough guy shell.

Also, they just announced that Ms Marvel is joining the X-men as a New Mutant in a comic run later this summer, so that sort of parallels some of the exploration we saw in the D+ series.

Prediction - this movie will be lambasted for its use of CGI. Yeah, not a hard prediction to make.

Looks like it could be a fun movie but one that will be forgotten 20 seconds after leaving the theater.

Looks fun (again). Pretty much the same trailer as the last one. Either they're keeping things close to the vest, or what we've seen is pretty much all there is to it. Hopefully the former. Maybe to avoid spoiling things about any Secret Invasion tie-ins?
