Ok, so in my Twitter/X feed some assh*le spoiled the (a?) big cameo for The Marvels, but if true it's so lame I don't even care.
so was it confirmed that Cameo the band would be cameoing as themselves?

and yes, the rumour is ultra-lame and pathetic.
just want to take a guess at the "big reveal" here y'all tell me if it's right….

the reveal will be someone from Secret Invasion and my guess is the skrull chick that got all the super powers of every character

I think all of the Kree Accusers had those.

I could be mistaken, though.
The press releases say:

In the MCU, Dar-Benn, who is now an Accuser of the Kree Empire. This is much like Ronan's title in Captain Marvel and Guardians of the Galaxy. It appears that the MCU version of Dar-Benn blames Carol for the fracturing of her planet's dominance of the galaxy. So it appears Dar-Benn's mission in The Marvels is twofold establish a new Kree Empire, and get revenge on Carol Danvers.

What Are Dar Benn's Powers in The Marvels?

As a very skilled Kree warrior, Dar Benn is an expert in armed and unarmed combat. Usually, they wield either a gun or a staff that dispels a very deadly energy beam. In images we've seen from The Marvels, it seems Dar-Benn holds the Warhammer, or "cosmi-rod," of a Kree Accuser.

So that plot sounds pretty lame, like a 90s super hero movie "somebody from your past you've never met is coming to do something bad", but hopefully the interaction of the 3 mains will be good. The villain, in the greatest coincidence of all time, is engaged to Loki in real life.

For an added bit of meta (your favorite word), she's played by Tom Hiddleston's fiance...

I admit, I stopped reading after "90s super hero movie," wrongfully assuming the rest of that paragraph would be more about the plot/villain and not the actor.

Much better than before. Too bad they just don't bring back the Netflix show creators

Did they have the same show runner for all of the Netflix shows?

They ****ed up the Skrulls but maybe they can do the Kree right. I like me some galactic stuff.

And while I didn't like that the Netflix Punisher could ever stop a-punishin', it was a pretty well-run* show. I'm due for a revisit.

I will never not stand by the take that it's absolutely bonkers that the goal of a cartoon Disney villain was to kill and skin a sh*t ton of dogs.

Sorry if I've already asked this but my wife is wanting to watch Loki S2. We haven't really seen any Marvel stuff since Loki S1. I'm guess if it's going to reboot everything then missing everything since then really doesn't matter?

The only thing that would enhance watching season 2 is to watch Antman 3 to better understand Season 1's effect on the MCU. Antman 3 is a flawed, but decent movie. I compare it to Avengers 2.

That being said, you in no way have to in order to understand anything in Season 2.

my impression is that literally no one knows what it going on in Loki at all and we all seem to enjoy it anyway

First clip from the Marvels. I'm happy to see Nick Fury graduated from what my brother and I have long referred to as the "Marc Singer school of being able to use alien technology better than the aliens themselves".

Back in the 1980s, Marc Singer (MIke Donovan) on "V" was naturally a better pilot of the Visitors' shuttle crafts and could also shoot better with their weapons than they could, given his intense combat training as a news photographer.

Kamala's dopey friend called her a genetic mutation in the last episode of her series.

There was a Wolverine headline in She-Hulk on a website.

They've laid some subtle groundwork already.

What do you think is the main reason that they can't just recast Kang? Wouldn't that be easier than rewriting/replanning the next group of movies?

I don't know enough about the law and contracts, but if they recast him and then Majors was found innocent, it seems like they'd be getting murdered in the court of public opinion (Marvel fires innocent black man) and have themselves an ugly lawsuit to boot. And whoever replaced him would be dancing around the issue forever.

If they pivot to Dr. Doom, they can just say, hey the Kang plot didn't work so we went a different way. And since Antman 3 mostly bombed and only hardcore fans watch Loki, they could probably wipe it away that Kang was ever a big deal.

Personally, if I've got Disney/Marvel money, I just go to the plaintiff's lawyer with the blank check and say "how much to shut up and go away?" Then I lean into the Jonathan Majors' rehab tour of anger management and easy talk show appearances, and tell him please no more staged breaking up fight videos, then lean on him and make the next movies as good as you can, cuz he's definitely a cool on-screen presence.

I'd also make sure all my movies leading up to it start having some quality hero overlaps, like Iron man in the Spidey movies and Dr. Strange in Rangnarok. Get your A listers interacting more.

I still stand by the idea that the day Marvel really lost its way was when Chadwick Boseman died, because that dude was your next RDJ in terms of charisma and team leader in the team films.

Bringing back IM and BW is a double-edged sword.

It would exacerbate the problem that the MCU feels weightless, with little to no consequences for just about anything.

On the other hand, they desperately need an OG to head up the Avengers, cause the universe feels totally directionless right now.

Interesting thoughts. Why does it feel like Marvel hasn't promoted Sam as the Captain America harder? I think in general audiences really like his character.

Tangential question: what is the future for Spiderman?

They just need to come out and say that the current phase sucked, so they are starting over. Build up X-Men, see if they can make a F4 movie that doesn't suck. Have your tent pole avengers be Spider-Man, Thor, Wolverine and Storm, Mr and Mrs Fantastic.

You have big heroes, you have diversity, you have old MCU and new, you have three of the biggest villains in Marvel (Magneto, Kang, Dr. Doom, as well as any Spider-Man villains) you can play with to set up the next Avengers conflicts.
