If he had committed this crime a week or two ago, he would not be out on bond. The public attitude toward race crimes is swinging rather fast to the right. His best path forward is to make a deal if that door hasn't already closed. Goes to trial I can see maximum punishment.

10 years ago he would have gotten probation.

Folks are fed up with black crime on whites.

Edited for punctuation.

I hope you're right but not really seeing that play out like this currently.

He's not right and doesn't understand how bond works in Texas.

I think he is speaking about the mood of the country on punishment for (black violence on whites) and not about making bond.

We read earlier that you are experienced in posting bonds.

Try to keep up.

You were wrong about that also, as he would not have gotten probation 10 years ago!
He would've been convicted. Just like he will be now.

Try dealing in facts and not emotion

And we know that Frisco/Collin County is just a hotbed of liberalism. Why else would Ken Paxton live there?

No idea what that means, keep living in fantasyland.

Anthony confessed to this murder. There are ZERO facts that support self-defense.

You cannot find any examples of people being given probation for that from 10 years ago, or probably ever!

Your entire post is based on emotion, not any actual facts of how the law works or what the law is. That's OK, it's a very emotional subject.

I have confirmed through the online Collin County records search that he did, indeed, submit a filing entitled, "TFDA Indigent Packet - Attorney Appointment Eligible." Perhaps Texas criminal attorneys can chime in on that.

So, I've been practicing family law exclusively for a long time now. But, I started my career as a prosecutor in Grayson County and then in Collin County. And after leaving the DA's office in Collin County, I did defense work there for a couple years. Like I said, it's been quite a few years since I handled any criminal cases...but I doubt the date that's listed for the indigency packet is actually the date it was filled out or submitted. I would bet a significant amount of money that it was filled out right around the time he was arrested, but only got "filed" once the case was actually indicted. In other words, I would bet that the date on the docket page is almost completely meaningless.

So no bail for the (actual) indigent?

As for Anthony, the amount of money the donation account has in it is irrelevant because he does not control it. It's not his money. The guidelines of the Collin country court say the judges can't consider what resources the family has. Only Anthony's assets, which are likely nothing

It was just a question, so who controls this money? Kayla Hayes? Kayla Hayes. Is the mother of Karmelo Anthony right?

The timing of money in this account is irrelevant as it's not included in the determination of whether Anthony is indigent.

i wouldn't call it an advantage, it just means he is eligible for a court appointed attorney

Rare but they do occur. Just don't get much publicity unless charges are filed. And in some areas, local authorities won't charge.

Muslims hate America. Liberals hate America. Seems a quite reasonable take.

Honor killings are a strange concept. I would think it is somewhat consistent amongst the most radical sects of varying religions, with Islam being a leader here (my supposition, I do not have the data).

But honor killings are very strong in Asian cultures too. In a sense, killing to show ones honor or atonement for dishonor is prevalent in Japanese culture.

Oh, I didn't mean to indicate that the funds were relevant in terms of whether or not he was legally indigent. What I was trying to point out was that the indigency paperwork was very likely filled out before any of those funds were even contributed (since people seem upset that he would claim indigency after all the contributions were made, legally relevant or not). You made the claim, not me. So where are these local authorities that aren't prosecuting honor killings? I figured you had plenty of evidence to support such a claim, since you are a lawyer.

I don't hope that you prove me wrong but will gladly admit so if you do.
Im Gipper

You won't find any stories on the honor killings not being prosecuted. Minneapolis Muslim media (MMM) covers them up.

Any idiot who pretends we haven't had Muslim honor killings in this country should be put on a mental institution.

Hell, there was a dad in Dallas who killed his daughter.
