Do you all think it is possible to hold the views he expresses regardless of who he is affiliated with? In other words, maybe he is a bought and paid for hack, but the things he says hold value. For example:

Our politicians care more about Israel and Ukraine than our citizens.

Multiculturalism is not a net positive to any culture.

The left is trying to destroy the traditional family.

DC is corrupt.

Our society is floundering.

Globalism harms American citizens.

That there's really no difference between republicans and democrats and it's all a show to distract us from the agenda.

Regardless of who is paying him or whether his words are sincere, there is an audience that shares those views. Perhaps he's just marketing himself towards those views for money (from them or from his financiers/keepers).

In a way it's reminiscent of a person who has the contents of their laptop exposed as containing illegal material (of whatever character) but attempts to defend themselves, not as to the material, but as to the manner it was discovered or the motivations of those that discovered the materials.

Not defending Tucker here because I haven't watched him in a while and haven't kept up with the drama; but there are other reasons for speaking ...

I mean if the Democrats invited me to speak at the DNC and we're gonna cover all the bills and pay me another $100K on top; I'd show up and give a "come to Jesus" speech right to their faces while taking their money.

Does that make me their stooge?

Again, I don't know why Tucker went there or what he said - but the simple act of getting paid doesn't mean he's owned either.

Uh, that's exactly what you are doing.

Well, if you had, you would understand this as much more than him just showing up for a check one time.

Tucker is not going to do this " Come to Jesus" talk you. If prior to this hypothetical DNC speech, you had spent much of your time pushing their talking points, speaking out against republicans, then yes you would be their stooge

Perhaps read the thread to get caught up on his history.

Of course it's possible.

Yet given this radical switch by Carlson, it's 100% clear Carlson is doing what he's always done. Say what gets him paid.

This is the third act of Carlson's public life. And his third different personality. Each time with a different employer.

That's not just a coincidence

It's not just him speaking there that is a problem. He's said some things that are way out there over the last few months. He's been attacking conservatives and sowing division on the right.

He's not a conservative. He's a paid spokesman.

All that is true that it can be so, but that is only an argument for not suppressing his speech. Not deplatforming (which agree with---I want to hear variant views---especially when those invested in lies are in power--you need the counterbalance). But it doesn't mean Tucker's own motives are wholesome or stable.

He has gone really off the deep end of late. And it is very concerning if it is just being bankrolled by a foreign opposition. Its not entirely clear why Qatar is considered friendly -- though the most fair interpretation is that they are the Arab Switzerland --with loyalty to nothing but a certain serve everybody.

But we are fine with Texas senators being paid by foreign interest lobbies? That's seems to be the sentiment here.

Just checking because that seems ok from our elected representatives, but not a podcaster.

Cruz was a paltry #6 back in '23. I'll bet he's upped his game since then.

Blood money: The top ten politicians taking the most Israel lobby cash

" #6 TED CRUZ, $1,299,194

Over his career, the Texas Republican has received $1.3 million from the Israel lobby. After October 7, Cruz sprang into action, announcing that it was "critical" that every American supports Israel "100 percent."

Edit: mandatory disclaimer for anyone who might be monitoring this thread: I'm among the most pro-Semitic gentiles in America, and see Israel as americas most important ally…I just don't want them involved in our politics.

Fair enough. I think most feel that way. But it's so easy for others to attack by playing that card.

Yeah Milo is kooky and I learned some stuff I didn't really want to learn, but it was definitely a perspective you don't get from the media or polite society.

It's good listen, and I'd imagine he's right about homosexual activity in the GOP
