WSJ is stating the obvious but it's still worth repeating. In the end, it's more than just a pain tolerance contest - it ends when someone is forced to blink.

WSJ: Iran Is Grasping for a Solution to an American Blockade It Can't Break
Quote:

The moderates believe in holding fire and negotiating a favorable deal with President Trump, whom they view as eager to get out of the messy war as soon as possible. They worry Iranians are growing tired of the conflict after an initial nationalist uptick.

"The regime has to do something to break this deadlock," Saeid Golkar, who studies Iran at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. "Moderates want a deal because they think more destruction is political suicide," he said.

A growing camp of hard-liners believe Iran has to take the military initiative and start a shooting war again to send oil prices soaring higher and increase the pressure on Trump. They argue that the blockade goes beyond the sanctions Iran has faced down in the past and amounts to an act of war that must have a military response.

Quote:

Iran is betting America will crack first and end its blockade of Iranian ports to calm global markets and bring down American gasoline prices. U.S. officials are betting that Iran will instead relent because of the deepening economic crisis.

The very first plane that resumed service to Tel Aviv after the "ceasefire"

was an Etihad Airliner direct from Dubai.

"initial nationalist uptick" (!!!)

yeah right!

I am so sure the families of the 43,000 massacred civilians who were butchered SIX WEEKS BEFORE

had a real uptick in their love for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that murdered their wives and brothers.

I think the 43k is crap, but I have no doubt quite a few were killed. They were probably the people who would be leading/participating in a revolt right now if it was happening.

The only proposal we want from Iran is "We accept the US proposal"

We need to focus on opening the strait, that should be our top goal right now. We need to accelerate the mine clearing, then provide air support to blow any Iranian speed boat out of the water. We also need to seriously get other countries to help with escorts, Trump should have already been doing this, and no, lashing out and bad mouthing those countries is not asking. I understand calling out some of them like Italy and Spain, they did us wrong with denying air space and using OUR bases, there was no reasoning to do that

It would be pretty funny and maybe a good idea, if we let the Iranian tankers through and sold the oil to countries in need, keep the money for Iran after the regime falls for their rebuild. IDK how possible that is, just a crazy idea on my part

Wouldn't that be piracy? That oil has been bought & paid for so we would technically stealing their customer's oil & money, no?

It's not piracy when it's done by or at the behest of a powerful nation.

See letters of marquee.....

Now someone will bring up the Libyan Barbary pirates, but again, that wasn't a powerful nation that could project and protect power.

Has it even been confirmed that a single mine has been found? Just because Iran says so doesn't mean they actually deployed any.

Opening the strait will be a difficult task and probably would require boots on the ground in Iran to some extent.

However the Iranian strategy in the next phase of the war would be much expansive in scope in driving the price of oil up higher, which would mean hurling their missiles at any and all regional oil facilities (perhaps minus Saudi facilities in order to keep Pakistan on the sidelines). It wouldn't be just bottling up the strait.

Do not underestimate Iranian capabilities to hurt the world economy in such an unbearable way that it'd force us to come to the table. Prolonged $150-$200 oil prices would certainly prove unbearable.

not that i've seen, but i'm not sure we would announce it if we found them. it would validate iran's posturing about mining the strait.

Any deal made will not be honored, they have shown this during the cease fire.

I am surprised Trump is considering anything they send

We just need to finish them off, open the strait ourselves and mow the grass

I mean he is at least entertaining them and telling them it is not good enough from what I gather. I could be reading in to it wrong

Would that be considered considering it? Or just reviewing them

Idk I just wouldn't trust them. He keeps saying we do not know who is in charge, just now he said they are getting different offers from different people or leaders.

I am guessing the political wing is sending theirs and the IRGC leaders are sending theirs. Pretty messy situation

Kill off the IRGC leaders, they seem to be the problem

I think it would be foolish to not even look at or read what they're offering. Might show you how far apart you are and signal you to go ahead and start bombing again.

No problem. Kill all of the theocrats and irgc, which overlap. Take out whatever targets are necessary to accomplish that.

Seemed like they were setting up for this yesterday. Looks like we are going hot again.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think this means anything. I would guess that it's looked something like this during the whole ceasefire. Some British Airways pilot isn't going to fly over Tehran.

Correct there were multiple reports of this including incursions directly into Iran from Kurdish areas. And I suspect those were supposed to go into areas with known Kurdish and other secretarian resistance groups. The Kurds were always going to skim some of those. But all of them? Poor decision.

If accurate, I don't expect Trump to lift a finger the next time Erdogan wants to go after the Kurds from Turkey. They chose poorly.

IBT Hegseth uses duds.

But seriously, seems like a decent strategy. Have a set of bombs that remain unexplored. Make them look really cool and paint in Farsi "super secret American bomb technology inside, pull string for more information".
