I consider Alex Honnolds free solo of El Cap to be one of humanity's greatest achievements as a species in general at this point.

Uhmm. Aron Ralston chopping his arm off. Then rappelling down a cliff and walking miles to find help has to be near the top of any list.

MF Barnes jumped out of the trees and when the other first hominids followed him he taught them the crip walk, thus being the first hominids to walk upright.

Admittedly, I had to look this up. Wow, that is incredible. The NY Times got it right on that one.

I remember the day Honnold free-soloed El Cap, I saw my ex-wifes Grandmother in Oglesby, TX and then her other Grandfather on his dying bed in Waco at the SW corner of Hwy 6 and I-35W in the same day.
