One of my daughters got an Axis doe last week (and I got the meat!!)

I used to know a good tanner west of Houston but he passed away.

Any recommendations for a tanner?

I'm expecting to have to ship it - we live in College Station.

Thanks in advance.

You may check out north Texas tannery. They have great prices, however, shipping does eat into some of the cost savings.

Congrats to your daughter on the axis.

As mentioned above, ship it to North Texas Tannery. It's best to communicate with the owner through text as opposed to phone or email. The number is on their FB page.

Freeze the hide, double wrap and ship. I've never overnighted and never had an issue of him receiving a non-workable hide.

You can drop it off at an area taxidermist and he/she will likely ship it to NTT or another tannery out of state. And markup for serving as the go-between.

I think NTT is closed. My taxidermist is taking his stuff to a place in Kerrville now, not sure where though.

I've used North Texas Tannery in the past - probably 5-6 years ago.

Internet says they are closed, but they are answering text messages and say they will do it for $75. They did a good job last time, but I could not remember the name, so thanks for the info.
