Anyone have any recommendations for leather work gloves? Looking to give a gift so willing to spend more for a quality pair. Was looking at Elk, but never purchased a pair so not sure what to look for, but found some options in James Churchill, Ranch Hands, Fox Creek .

I loved Plainsman but they either sold out or completely changed the materials and sizing they use to have. They were great solid work gloves, enough flexibility to still have dexterity and tough enough to not tear or be easily cut.

Best ive used. Several types and they have all been excellent.

These are solid and easy to find. Great for work on barbed wire.

Have used the Churchill insulated elk skin for twenty years. If looking to make an impression they're great. Soft on the first wear, hold up well, but have gotten expensive.

I've never worn their unlined Elk, only deer, great quality but lack the dexterity of the elk.

I'm in safety. Years ago buying gloves for a company I worked for, I noticed the price would fluctuate. Not surprising I guess, but they fluctuate in price with the leather market. A couple companies ago we had gone away from leather gloves because of the cost. Better cut rated synthetic gloves were less expensive than leather and usually have better dexterity. Not trying to steer anyone away from leather gloves, they are great for many tasks.

What is this guy going to use his gloves for? I see some options here that cost more than 50 bucks. Pretty bougie stuff for leather gloves. I would hate for someone to spend that kind of money on work gloves and then take them out for a fencing job and destroy them in 14 hours.

I like cheap thick leather gloves for fencing and I like synthetic MaxFlex for almost anything else that requires any dexterity.

He will primarily be using them at the deer lease for working on blinds, clearing brush and carrying firewood. So, no barbed wire fencing to cut them up.

I recently wore through my Wells Lamont and replaced with these. I like them a lot. Super soft and fit great. I considered getting deer/elk skin but liked these so much I couldn't justify the premium.

I keep a pair in my deer hunting bag and a pair in my toolbox.

What about getting two pairs...one that is normal and one that is insulated. Since the tasks he is doing seem to be light duty for a leather glove, a nicer quality one would probably last quite a while. I don't have fancy gloves, but I do have some that have thinsulate in them and they are the bees knees when its chilly. And I get chilled below 60...

I usually buy whatever I see at the feed store when I realize I need new gloves but if I happen to see Tillman such as the picture below, that is what I buy. They seem to last longer building fence and don't stain your hands yellow after you sweat in them like others do.

Harbor Freight sells a decent leather work glove. I use them periodically for fence work. Had a pair for 3 years and still in good condition.

picked up these at the feed store a month ago. Long sure about longevity but they seem good quality.

The last time I saw them was in COSTCO about 2 years ago, a 2pk for $40. I bought 6 pairs but am down to my last pair now.
