Is this "Coming and Going" or "Gone and Never Coming Back"?

It's nostalgia night in BCS.

Any update on Mojo Tortilla? Last update I can find was about a month ago saying hopefully early Oct.

Excited for this to open!

Thank you so much for the interest! I'm pleased to report we finally got a temporary CO from the city! We've got some processes and training to button up etc. We're not announcing a day yet but it is imminent.

Just to correct the front page listing:

Lion's Den Gym is in the old Gold's Gym location in the Tejas center and looks really nice.

I am not sure where Pickleball Kingdom will go. It looks like both NRG and American Freight nextdoor to Lion's Den Gym are both permanently closed, so I guess it could be going there.

For the pickleball court it is going into where Blinn offices were.

Oh thanks for this! I miss my old Gold's in that location so going to check it out today...looking to switch gyms.

You and me both. You better not do me, like you did the chicken oil co.

I've heard whisperings that "imminent" means tomorrow. Is that accurate?!
Costa and Andreas

lol that is 100% not accurate. We are still working on some details of the fresh tortilla operation and still have some training to do.

I'm sad and I feel like this is all somehow a result of the Bill's terrible game against Atlanta on Monday night. I will sorely miss much of their food.

Anchor was great every time I went, although it was never very busy.

It also opened around the same time as Pluckers. I think wings are comparable at both, but Pluckers is in a much better location and has the neat outdoor area.

Sad to see it's gone but not surprised.

Anchor Bar is one of the few places I've had to walk out of. Not surprised at all that they are closed. Good management and service are important in the food industry.

Well this sucks. This was our favorite wing place in town by a mile. We went or ordered it to go at least 2-3 times a month. It was never slammed, but it almost always had a decent crowd in there. Was really hoping they would make it.

We frequented during the week and it was usually at least one-third to half full. This has to be poor management.

Really shocked about Anchor Bar. We were there at least twice a month and ordered pizza from them at least once a month for work. My son and I were there on Saturday and it wasn't packed, but still a decent crowd.

The $1 wing night was my preferred time to go.

We've been to Pluckers one time, and I preferred Anchor Bar over them. I guess I'll have to give them another try since Wings n More is not in the same category.

Sad to see another locally owned franchise not make it. The owner is getting roasted on Facebook. Pretty sure he is from Navasota.

Too far from the bypass...

The current business climate for restaurants is looking bleak.
FlyRod

Yep, and chicken prices (along with beef) continue rising. I suspect we'll see more wings/tenders places go under soon. T&P.

That explains last week when I went, the employees didn't give a damn and we had to beg to get a beer

Part of the problem seems to me to be how many chicken wing places can one market sustain? At some point they exceed the capacity of the market.

Maybe be inventive. Open a restaurant with a unique concept. Then it makes it or doesn't based on things like how good the concept is.

Anchor bar was more than just chicken. They've had staffing issues almost from the beginning. It's been terrible outside of when they first opened.

Went there for my birthday this year with my parents back in March

It wasn't even 1/3 full, and they were out of the first 3 beers that my dad tried to order. Dad and I were hoping to add it to our rotation on nights that mom had bunco, but he was so unimpressed by the experience that it didn't happen

Finished last in our blind taste testing of AB, WM, Plucker's, BWW, and WS. (Unanimous last place on all five judge's cards.)

Confirmed my one in-restaurant experience prior that was very disappointing.

The positive reviews I see from posters on here baffle me. Our ideas of a good food experience must be as foreign as the way left wingers and right wingers politics are...

I wouldnt have put in last on that card of places at all for wings.

I never really had outstanding service there even when really slow

But the wings were good, the chicken pizza was a favorite and the $1 wing night was good but never had an outstanding time there and so when deciding to eat out certain nights if it wasnt dollar wing night it wasnt on my radar

LOL at blind taste test for wings from all those places. It would be very easy to know which each wing came from.

I agree with this. It opened close to the same time as Pluckers and a much worse location.

I don't see how anyone could blame Pluckers opening for Anchor Bar's demise. Pluckers had the name, but I had never been to one before they came here. My boys and I enjoyed Anchor Bar and I don't remember having a bad experience when eating there.

The closing definitely wasn't handled properly, that's a fact. But their wings were far above WM...I won't even order wings from them anymore.

To each his own

They were pretty much direct competitors opening in the same market at a similar time. One had a superior location and atmosphere and was more well known prior to opening.
