I'm flying to regional airports all the time. I'll take my chances with United with flights like DEN - LBL instead of the 6hrs drive.

That's Liberal ****ing Kansas! Town of not even 20k people and United can get me there to call on one of my largest customers.

The United product isn't great, but none are what I'd call great anymore. Living in Houston, United is 100% the smartest choice for airline. Lounge access when you're flying 60x/yr+ is a game changer to many of us doing it. When your home airport has like 5 of them and there's access to 50+ everywhere else, helps with the time.

Got in last night at midnight in terminal D. Baggage was in terminal A. I never check bags, but we had to check my daughter's climbing equipment. We went to the train, and it was out of service. So we left security and went down to the subway. Also out of service. So we had a 20 minute walk through a mostly dark tunnel, me hauling our carry-ons, and my daughter in her wheelchair. Houston is a 4th world country. Blackhawk Down is better air travel than going through IAH. If I were Hobby, I'd rent billboards on Will Clayton telling people to stop flying out of the hellhole they're driving towards. I'm in Kingwood, and I can get in and out of Hobby better than IAH, and I don't have to deal with the ICE/DHS rejects in the pick-up area yelling at me while I try to load a wheelchair into a car after narrowly surviving level 6 on Frogger.

Baggage was at Terminal A? Never seen that happen...pretty sure C is the only baggage claim.

Sucks about the trains though

No, there is baggage claim at A. The more you know.

United is C all other domestic is A

What other domestic airlines are landing at D though?

Spirit
Frontier
Sun Country

Those aren't airlines. Those are entertainment venues!

The difference between Spirit, United, and Frontier is like the difference between PBR, Milwaukee's Best, and Raineer. Swill is swill.

This is in the running for dumbest post on this thread which, given its length, is quite the accomplishment.

Yeah, I've had a 4 minute commute for 26 years. Never flown anything but coach my entire life, even when flying internationally for business. Have no clue about lounges, and glad I've never needed one. I fly to Atlanta regularly on Spirit, and Tulsa regularly on United. Spirit flight usually costs about 1/4th as much. The domestic sardine experience is the same either way. Sure, United is huge and goes everywhere. But loyalty to a company? No way. Google flights all the way. Houston-Tokyo-Beijing over, and Hong Kong-Helsinki-Dallas coming back was still better than spending $9K more on United. I'm cramming the same backpack under the seat in front of me either way, popping in earbuds, and watching whatever I downloaded in the terminal when I fly domestic.

I was in Boston a few weeks ago...don't even remember what airline I flew.

Denver last week. I know that was Frontier.

Also flown to Kauai, Philly, San Juan, Detroit, Riga, Yerevan, NYC, Istanbul, Phoenix, Salt Lake, Richmond, Bombay, Barcelona, Birmingham, and a few other places in the last year or so. Don't remember the airline for hardly any of them.

If you flew economy to Bombay, I salute you sir! I flew business there and still wanted to jump out of the plane! They'll serve you 2-3 meals on that flight from IAH and some ****er in the poor seats still wants to bring the worst smelling ****ing meal in their carry-on they can think of.

Don't get me wrong; I love Indian food. But on a metal tube 40k ft in the air and nowhere to go, **** you!

Flew out for the first time in a while. Turner "saved" Houston money, but instead of a cohesive solution that would have been cheaper in the long run, he delayed the project years to get his buddies and interns more kick backs.

I can't believe the final solution is to have people parking at the E garage have to traverse like 8 lanes of traffic and go up and down multiple sidewalk ramps.

If he is, he's flying wrong. Them and a few others will pay for business after a certain flight time.

I know some EPC companies are cheap skates, but they'll put up on longer flights.

No, I travel with my wife a lot, so I downgrade my seat. Saves the company money anyway. After flying to Ukraine 4 times in 3 months years ago, I learned that jetlag is just a state of mind. The rest is just resignation to baseline level misery. Low expectations make it better. I wish I could make myself feel that way about Aggie football.

We have to be above a certain paygrade to qualify for business class. My employer made my fly economy on my trip to Korea. I paid out of pocket to get bumped up to economy plus.

My company has a policy that my position gets business class on flights over X hours but then adds an infinite number of caveats to it so they can justify booking people economy tickets. Hasn't happened to me yet but several of my coworkers have been getting economy tickets. Absolutely miserable to fly to southern Brazil and Uruguay in economy knowing that you're technically authorized business class.

When I first started working at a major EPC, anything international was business which was great because I was regularly flying to Asia. Then, they started walking it back even though the clients were willing to pay for it. It became for international, you could only get economy plus, regardless of where you were flying. So back and forth to Kazakhstan that takes 3 days? Economy and you will like it. They still expected you to be ready and rested when you landed though.

United just texted me this fun warning:

Due to maintenance issues, the train system at Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport is temporarily out of service. Shuttle buses will be operating to transport passengers between all concourses. We encourage you to arrive early to avoid any potential disruptions to your travel. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming you on board.

Ours is I believe 12 but includes layovers and essentially the only place i fly would be to Brazil or Uruguay. I see my coworkers flights and it's always hit or miss as to whether they get business class. This issue is always brought up in our quarterly meetings and management has started to get very defensive about it. It's pretty stupid to put a business class entitlement in writing and then not give people business class. One coworker is flying from NJ to Uruguay economy. Wooooof.

Most definitely not these type of "tourists". You think they are coming to spend some money and go home next week? We are full.

Yeah, my parents did this a few days ago. Really easy, especially if you're getting dropped off.
