I didn't check any local news this week, then heading back into town I learned about the South Loop westbound being closed.
The frustrating part is when Waze or Google maps are giving me a great ETA because there is no traffic on those lanes!
I figured out a decent detour, but had to lie about my destination to find the road I wanted, because the apps kept trying to steer me back to the closed freeway. If I had a safe chance to pull over, I might as well have dug around the back of my truck to look for an old Key Map.
Any of you traffic engineers know if there's any hope for public agencies conveying road closures to the navigation apps? Or is there a better way to find relevant closures than searching around TexDot's cluttered website? Just found an app called "Texas Traveler" that might try.
