This, although I think there is a Pappasitos nearby?

Eat in Rice Village and then take Kirby or Greenbriar/Fannin down.

Do NOT go to the Pappasitos or Pappadeaux by NRG.

The new El Tiempo Cantina is the only restaurant right by NRG I would take the fam too.

Look around Rice Village area, straight North of NRG around Kirby Drive.

You looking for nice or casual w/ kids?

Well in that case, I'd just hit the drive thru at Raisin Canes or Chick fil A on South Main.

But for sitdown, Christian's Tailgate on Kirby usually has families w/ kids during the day (more of a bar on a late Saturday night) or Goode Company Taqueria on Kirby would be a safe option.

Torchy's Tacos in Rice Village would be kid friendly, but you might have to pay for parking anywhere in the Village.

Torchy's sucks

Tiger Noodle in Rice Village. Or Black Walnut Cafe. Or any of the Goode restaurants on Kirby.

Tiger Noodle. Id also vote to go order from Kasra also rice village. Your family can split kabobs. It is alot fo food. 2 dinner orders of kabobs is easily 3 meals for adults. They also throw in free bread (not actual bread but Persian equivalent).

Do you take a select larger reptile to festivals or other outdoor public gatherings to meet women?

the scene around NRG is honestly sad for tourism wanting to hang out near there on gamedays

Not if they want to see a shooting.

The amount of time and money spent on the grounds just doesn't leave a lot of leftover demand for dining and night life. Most people are ready to go home and forget about how much money they spent by the time they get to their cars - or hit a cheap bar closer to home.

The folks who actually work there are probably just hitting drive thru's if anything.

Downtown is different because the parking is spread out in different locations, so you're actually going to walk past bars and restaurants and it doesn't take an hour plus to leave the stadium grounds.

I mean, I went to Highmark stadium in Buffalo this season and as tourists, we stopped at a restaurant to get some wings and whatnot before the game. It was a really nice way to start the day before tailgating and was within walking distance.

I think Timmy Chan is the only option for that in Houston?

Timmy Chan's is El Tiempo now.

But your'e talking about very different population sizes, demographics, and geography. The South Loop has what the local population & commuters will support. Better options are not far away, but in places where the full-time population supports better options.

Not sure if you know the reputation South Main had back in the day, but it's actually improved a good bit.

"Hoe Row," according to an older gentleman in the neighborhood. Said the Oilers kept the gals busy back in the day.

I fondly recall as a child sitting in the parking lot of a 7/11 around 3:30PM one weekday watching a woman in a skin tight transparent dress walk up to a suited guy's driver side window, walk around to get get in the passenger seat, after which they drove across Main to the Super 8.

I do miss the the Crystal Pistol neon sign. Wish I could find a picture of it somewhere online.

I went to church with a former Houston cop who was on whatever raid shut down the Crystal Pistol. That place was legendary.

um... no.... im happily married and I guess you didnt see the 'fam'...

I dont have anyhting to do with reptiles or spiders, roaches etc...

I have a carnivorous plant nursery in College station and sell plants at shows cause those who raise reptiles usually have a ton of flies in their house cause of the food they give their critters...

Quote:

Four people are in custody after reports of gunfire near NRG Stadium Tuesday.
A Harris County Sheriff's Deputy assigned to METRO's rail safety patrol reported hearing several shots near the platform area. Investigators say the gunfire appears to have started during an altercation between two groups -- one made up of two males and the other being a male and a female.

Not sure what time, but saw it on the afternoon news.
