Came across this old Houston episode of Insomniac with Dave Attell. I remember seeing it back when it aired wanting to go to the Cy Fair late night Rodeo. Never did though. When did that end?

Of the bars he visited, I think West Alabama Icehouse is the only one still going.

Lone Star Salooon is still there, isn't it?

Cecil's relocated.

Took me a minute to recognize where "Toc" was; better known as Power Tools and later something like the Pink Elephant.

I never knew much about the Cy Fair rodeo, but I remember there was someplace way out west where the rich urban kids would go in the 90s to play cowboy. And I think Simonton was where older folks went in the 80s or 70s.

Cool video. I remember watching the show some in college. Let's go cruise the Richmond strip tonight!

Anyone know what year this was recorded. I've lived in Cypress for 30 years and remember that event and went a few times. Was trying to figure if I knew any of those folks.

The Cy Fair rodeo supported the FFA chapter. It was a fun little rodeo to go to.

Tin Hall maybe is what you are thinking of? Wasn't far from Cy-Fair high school.

Oh no, I definitely remember Tin Hall. Another Texagger and I made the acquaintance of Mr. Merle Haggard there one night.

I was talking about a rodeo where they let amateurs try out. Wasn't sure if it was Cy Fair or the Simonton night rodeo.

Didn't Virginia City have a rodeo amateurs could ride in?

Lone Star saloon on st Joseph's? Still there but it's looked like it's closed the last week or two. Lights and open sign have been off. Google Maps still shows it's open but I can't imagine they'd be real diligent in updating their Google maps profile.

Where District 249 is off of 249 and spring cypress used to have a rodeo arena behind it.

Henry's Hideout out off 1774 was a dive with thousands of antlers on the ceiling. No idea of its reputation in the 90s.

District 249's previous iterations would be closer to suburban money back in the 90s than Henrys.

No idea if either of those are the actual answer you're looking for. Tin Hall was my first thought but you said it wasn't there.
