Seeking some help here for a close friend who is getting frustrated with an ongoing situation. This is a healthy 38 year old female who is a marathon runner, most recently just competed in Boston this past April.

She is being referred by her rheumatologist to a neuromuscular doctor. She had an irregular EMG showing muscle myopathy. She had a muscle biopsy showing necrosis and MHC-1 and she tested positive for ANA but have no other findings on blood test regarding autoimmune.

The earliest appointment she can find is not until March and as frustrating as this has been, its also been quite painful and heartbreaking as she cannot currently run.

Any advice, information or connection with a Neuromuscular would be very much appreciated.

She might want to check with Drs Irr or Chachere at Neurology Consultants of Houston ( Neurological Services and Treatments in Houston, TX ). I don't have experience with either of them, but I see Dr. Mary Ellen Vanderlick from the same group for MS, and it is not usually hard to get an appt with her within a few weeks. That practice has always had very good docs and both Irr and Chachere list neuromuscular issues in their CVs on the website.
