OK, so I'm making plans to come to SPI the first weekend of October but I find out that's SPLASH weekend--a gay pride thing. I need some insight from anyone that lives there. Is it a big event? This ain't exactly me or my wife's thing, so should we stay away that weekend? Or will we be able to be in our own little world and be fine?

You should be alright. If the Bikers and funny people got along one year when both events where scheduled the same weekend, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Watch out when you go on those walks on the beach at night though!

BTW Memorial Day weekend was pretty dead. I was there that Monday and it seemed like the only people on the island were construction workers.
