L.C. was a long time rancher and farmer in Edinburg. His family moved to Edinburg in 1921 from the panhandle. He entered A&M in 1938 and graduated in 1942 (early with the class after WWII started. He served in europe with the XIX Tactical Air Command in support of Patton's Third Army and reached the rank of Lt. Col.

L.C. along with some other prominent families in Edinburg were responsible for the transformation of Edinburg Jr. College into UTPA. He and his wife were responsible for many, many scholarships for students at both A&M and UTPA.
