Im looking to find out what the top 5 high schools are in the South Texas area that send the most kids to A&M.

Meaning.. which 5 schools in this area have the most kids go to Texas A&M after high school.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

You are going to need to get that information from the university. Individual high schools are not going to have that kind of information unless they are doing some kind of special project. You might contact university admissions and they might have what you need.

I would contact the Prospective Student Center in McAllen. They work directly with the local schools and students. They can give you the break down you are looking for.

I am guessing that The Science Academy of South Texas ISD is among the top schools in the valley.

Well perhaps on the available education provided to the students but as far as numbers to A&M, PSJA North had been doing very well. This might have been a few years back but I know they have some great teachers and counselors that work very well with the students and the PSC.

I'm curious as to who is tops this year.

Since the OP asked about numbers, I would guess that the really large high schools would probably have the largest numbers. If we were talking about percentages, I would guess the high schools in STISD and Sharyland.

A LOT depends on the the senior teachers and counselors, they have a lot of influence. I know that I was successful in getting one really sharp Physics student (in San Antonio) to go to A&M and he was valdictorian of his class in Electrical Engineering. Many of the top kids are "advised" toward the "elite universities", like the Ivy League, Berkley, and ND because so many scholarships are made available to hispanic kids from these schools.

Harlingen South has a pretty good track record of sending people to A&M. There was probably 15-20 of us that went in my graduating class and around 10 or so of us actually graduated.

Lots of other people from earlier and later classes went to A&M also.
