Construction started last week.

The old McDonalds has been taken down and the foundation is being laid.

I would stay away from that place at least for one month after it opens. Food/service will be terrible from the beginning and you know how the valley reacts to new chain restaurants that open in the valley (pf changs, bjs, Cheddars) It will be a cluster**** of nationals and it would be hard to enjoy the atmosphere of a quality restaurant like Pappadeaux.

That was the plan.

My firm did all the site work for that place - known about it now for over a year...

That sign has been up for about a year.

All they need to do is tear down El Centro Mall and then it would be decent.

Wow! I have been out of the valley far too long!

I'm going to be shocked if I ever make it down there for a visit...

Why tear down when you can remodel?

OXDL where are you from? Have you ever been to or seen El Centro Mall? That place is horrible and needs to be leveled to the ground.

The sign for the Circle K on Ware and Nolana was there for close to 2 years before construction started.

From the site work it looks like the place is going to be pretty big. I sure don't like the location but I am looking forward to it opening.

From what I hear it's not going to just be Pappadeaux's. Rumor has it that it will also be Pappacito's and another Pappa's restaurant.

Can anyone confirm or deny? I have a contact at Convergys nearby that told me that rumor.

Its going to be a Pappadeaux in phase 1, and later a Pappasito's in phase 2. My firm did all the civil site planning for it so that is confirmed fact.

Looking forward to both of them being open when they are finally done. Some additional solid options to head out to.

The Valley is finally catching up!! Hopefully the food will be as good as the ones in San Antonio. A Ruth's Chris would be a great addition as well....

no matter what chain sets up in the valley, it takes valley employees of said chains 6 months to **** them up.

I disagree - the service is usually comparable.

What IS funny though is checking out a Best Buy or Wal*Mart in Houston or Dallas and comparing the lack of crowds to the ones down here.

It's like there's a recession on or something.
