While computerized rankings won't remove the subjectivity, it would at least solve the inconsistencies of how the metrics are applied. There are a few of them I keep seeing that drive me crazy.
For example, looking at late losses versus early losses - it's usually stated it's better to lose early than to lose late. That appears to be the reason A&M is currently ranked 7th with one loss compared to Ole Miss and Oregon above us. But on the other hand, Alabama wasn't penalized at all in their CCG loss and lost late to Oklahoma, compared to Notre Dame who lost their two first games. And then there's 2020 A&M versus Notre Dame, where A&M lost in game two to start the season and Notre Dame lost in the ACC championship.
