Virginia would be out. Duke wouldn't get in at 8-5. Miami would be the only chance.

Does it have to be a conference champion in that slot? If so, JMU is in.

I think the committee will put Miami over ND if Duke wins.

They should be in over ND even without a Duke win

VA/duke only determines if it is JMU or VA as a 11/12 seed

I know this keeps getting said, but the committee has ND ahead of Miami and neither team is playing.

If the committee tries to rig things that crazily, burn it down. Burn it down immediately. I mean, come on, what are we doing!??
Nothing looks more foolish than tradition to those who have none.

"Top 5 highest ranked conference champions but not really" is the rule for 2025

This is why conference champions should have nothing to do with it. Take the top 12 teams. Period.

They are not putting Miami over ND under any circumstance. That would be admitting every other ranking they were wrong. Miami getting hosed.

Miami sucks donkey balls, they aren't getting hosed. They lost to 2 separate lame ACC teams. They have one win over a ranked team and that's the 3 point win over a ND team with a brand new quarterback.

It's great to talk about the head to head, but in a system that is supposed to put the best teams in the playoff, you can't ignore the fact that Miami looked average for most of the year.

It would be silly to me if committee starts re-ranking teams in relation to each other, when they are not even playing.

Yep. Either Head to Head matters or it doesn't.

The committee has long stated that they use head to head specifically as a criteria when two teams are really closely ranked. With the BYU loss, they fall out which now leaves Notre Dame and Miami as ranked 10/11. I think that qualified for really close now, and flipping ND and Miami would actually be sticking with what they have said in the past rather than going against it.

Lame ACC teams?

SMU would have been in Big 12 championship game. Louisville wasn't that bad either. They smoked UK worse than any SEC team.

The EsipN programming by Kirk Herbstreit has been effective on you. Resistance is futile!

Based on BYU capabilities, you aren't exactly giving a strong argument.

Agreed but they conveniently change their reasonsing to get the teams they want in. Miami gets in with a Duke win and ND gets in with a Duke loss.

Definitely agree about changing their reasoning.

They'll talk about teams A & B and reference one set of things and talk about why they don't use other things in that decision, then compare teams C & D and do the exact opposite.

Disagree. The tourney should be 6: a min of 4 being champs. Leverage the conference championship games as a pseudo first round.

That would be fine if the conferences were equal. They aren't anywhere close though. 6 isn't enough either.

Bama did the committee a solid by getting shellacked. Now they can justify flip flopping back with ND and avoid the head to head conversation.

I know they're not. And I don't care.

This year would be GA, Indiana, Tceh, & an undeserving champ (Tulane, JM, Duke… so be it). + best records w/o a loss to a contender: Ole Miss & A&M

If your criticism is that Tulane doesn't deserve to be in that bracket rather than that this hypothetical payoff would leave out a deserving team, then you're implying that it's STILL TOO BROAD at 6. Which still makes it better than 12.
