They should have called about 3 fouls on Deni before they finally did. Castle punked him and let him know about it while we had a double digit lead. I have no issue with it. Had it been a one possession game like when Scoot picked up his tech, I'd feel differently.

Once the NBA addresses the tanking issue, I think foul baiting is going to be on their radar. Several years ago they took away the rip through move as a path to the free throw line, and I think they'll try to come up with a solution to what SGA has been doing and what Deni does by just crashing into guys and then falling down or flailing. There is no defense for that kind of cheap move and it shouldn't be rewarded. Maybe a rule adjustment that gives the referee the leeway to call a technical foul on a guy for falling down under the same rules that govern flopping if the fall/flail is done to bait a foul. Use the same theatrical exaggeration reasoning.

Advantage with a technical is that it could lead to an ejection or a suspension eventually. Pretty easy way to disincentive a star from doing this crap if it might get them ejected.

My solution is simple: assess technicals for every foul bait or flop post game.

Each technical (standardly) comes with a $2000 fine.

16 technicals and you are suspended
you get suspended for 1 additional game for each additional 2 technicals

Same here. Gobert didn't throw down Joker. Clear flop. Technical assessed after the game.

Every game gets reviewed and the NBA publishes a "flopping/foul baiting" page similar to the last two minute page with a clip explaining it.

16 technicals is plenty to change behavior before a suspension.

And the best thing about it - it is already codified in the rule book. The fine wont matter, but players like LeBron, Luka, SGA, Joker would get suspended real early in the season. Use your flops strategically.

I could live with that. There is already a light shining on OKC for their antics and I think the public is going to demand action once it gets to the conf finals and finals and SGA keeps pulling this crap and it becomes obvious that it is a fairness issue tilting the scales heavily in their favor.
