How good is this guy going to be? Struck out 4 times two nights ago, hits 3 home runs yesterday, strikes out 3 times today. Hitting .197 at Round Rock.

You pretty much answered your own question. In his brief stint with the Rangers this year, he either hit a homer or struckout. When he gets into a ball it goes to the moon, but he misses more than he hits. Reminded me a lot of Chris Davis during his time with the Rangers

If he ever learns patience and disaprin at the plate he has hall of fame talent

He's going to be a great power bat with many inconsistent stretches every year. I don't think he will be a franchise player, but a guy every time would love to have.

What's odd about Gallo is how he strikes out. He strikes out on very hit table pitches. He's shown great plate discipline with pitches outside the zone, but has a hard time making contact with good strikes. He has a long, Chris Davis-like swing, which doesn't help the contact numbers. I'm not sure I've ever seen someone swing-and-miss at so many hittable pitches. Even if he can can find a way to bat .220-.240, there is a place on a team for a guy who can hit 40-50 HR's a season.

I completely agree with that Bass. The big thing that I think helped Davis when he went to the Baltimore was I noticed that they backed Davis away from the plate just a slight bit more and his batting numbers improved. Granted he still strikes out a lot but he wasn't missing pitches like he was in Texas

JD Martinez also struggled hitting pitches in the zone. He went to Detroit, simplified and shortened his swing, and now he's a bona-fide star.

If Gallo can shorten his swing and not sell out for power, he will become one of the best hitters in the game.. and he will still hit plenty of dingers.

Gallo is 0 for 4 with FOUR strikeouts tonight. Now hitting .197.

He's still only, like, 22. Nelson Cruz didn't become a serious power hitter in the majors until nearly 30. Texas just needs to be patient.

Gallo already has power, though. Cruz developed some better averages but still had some sporadic years.

Power is often the last thing to develop and/or older guys often turn themselves into more power hitters because their swing slowed down or they don't run well anymore or they want a nice free agent contract as a .270 30 home run 5 hole hitter.

He still has development in all areas to do, but you usually see for average guys transform to power hitters...it's harder to develop a higher batting average.

He doesn't need a better average as much as he needs a better eye. If he peaks at good years Adam Dunn there's nothing wrong with that.

He's shown what he is capable of at the Major League level. Maybe he comes up in September as a PH against rightys. Otherwise he probably needs at least part of next season at AAA to get his discipline better and start hitting off speed pitches.

So many just expected him to fly through to the majors and dominate. He's progressing well though.

The biggest thing that helped Davis was getting a prescription for Adderall and getting a MLB exception to take it.

On the positive side, Brinson looks great so far at Frisco, and Mazara just got promoted to Round Rock.

Mazara in RR: 6 G \ 24 AB \ .292

Holy smokes on Brinson:
22 Games \ 86 AB \ .326 \ 5 HR \ 2 SB \ .355 OBP \ .948 OPS

Looks like a few players trying to make their case for a late season call-up.

With Mazara at AAA and Brinson at AA both having outstanding seasons, the Rangers future outfield appears to be in good shape.
