Yeah the Rangers are just trying to get to relevance status. They shouldn't say a word about anything.PhatMack19 said:

Except you're missing one thing.....JV comes with Kate....Kate rally boobs can be solely attributed to several playoff winsFarmer1906 said:
I am 100% excited about getting JV back. He's exceeded my expectations this season with his recent run of good starts. However, he is still declining and I would expect him to further decline over the next 2 years. Giving up Gilbert & Clifford for him feels like way too much even if the Mets cover the majority of the remaining money. I **** on Arlington for overpaying for an aging arm and I think this is similarly bad. JV >>> Max though. I hope JV proves me wrong.

Win another championship and I won't gaf about Gilbert and Clifford. Win now baby
Everyone’s gonna piss and moan for Astros praise, but (cheating aside) they are everything you should want your organization to be. They draft and develop stars, pay their stars to stay, sign free agent stars, trade for stars and go for it when they’ve got a shot to win it all.

How do you feel about what the Astros gave up (Gilbert & Clifford) for Verlander?

Still need a bat, and another BP arm would be nice, too.AggieJ2002 said:
Reality is we are going for it this year and next because like it or not, the window is finally starting to close. I'm ok with it as the time is now. Cement the dynasty
4 Months? If he pitches 140 innings next season it will be the next 2 years most likely. The pitching situation changed drastically from the beginning of this season. JV is much more valuable to us now than he was then.Mathguy64 said:
So if the Mets aren't covering a massive part of this contract that means Crane effectively gave the Mets 2 top players for renting JV for 4 months. He could have just given JV the contract last winter and kept the players. That's a huge error.

Prospects are crapshoots. GIlbert and Clifford look great on paper, but at one point so did Seth Beer and Mark Appel... I know what JV brings to the table, to the city, and to the clubhouse. Let's win another ring and cement the dynasty.

having JV hopefully pitching 7 innings deep is bullpen helpAggie95 said:adding JV won't do that. This team desperately needs another bat (or 2) and bullpen help.409Texag said:

So did Alvarez, Bregman, & Tucker.
It's okay to not be happy about paying the price we did and be pumped to bring back the legend and help us make another title run.
Chas McCormick, you are the Astros CF of the future!

I'm absolutely disappointed to see Clifford go. I love him as a prospect. I'm also excited for JV to be back. Both things can be true!
I keep reminding myself about how much we cringed when we gave up that haul of prospects for Grienke. They were all very highly thought of and just about none of them ever did anything. You truly never know.
