4 Months? If he pitches 140 innings next season it will be the next 2 years most likely. The pitching situation changed drastically from the beginning of this season. JV is much more valuable to us now than he was then.


The Mets rented him for 4 months.
Ah, my bad. Still we are in a whole different scenario of starting pitching today than back then.

We could use a reliever too. Maybe a Myles Straw style trade where we get a longshot reliever and a prospect back

Why the bench? Why not one that can limit how often Meyers/Julks/Dubon play? Unless the bat is a wash with those 3

I'm sorry but that's easy to say now with LMJ and LuAce out for the season and Urquidy out for most of it. If we knew all 3 would be out for all or most of the season of course Crane tries harder to keep JV. Instead, d-bag Mets owner spends like a drunken sailor and we are where we are.

Also, if the Mets pay a significant portion of the contract, then it makes Crane a genius. I'd gladly give up two prospects to get Verlander cheap for the next couple of years.
