We are supposed to fly out to Orlando on Black Friday however are coming up with a contingency plan should flights still be an issue. We would need to leave Wednesday evening to get there Friday morning with a 2 and 5yo onboard. How difficult is it going to be to find food and hotel rooms? While I have a tentative idea of how far we'll realistically be when needing those things, if we don't make it that far or are able to keep going I'd like that option so would rather not book ahead. Have never traveled more than an hour away Thanksgiving day.

Fortunately our return flight is a separate reservation and not so time sensitive so we wouldn't have to do that drive twice! They can barely handle a drive from DFW to college station. /cry face

Finding food and rooms should not be an issue, the traffic could be bad on Wednesday with people driving for Thanksgiving, especially east of Louisiana.

And if you are driving from DFW do I49 in Louisiana instead of going through Jackson.

Thanks! Yeah I figure traffic on the eve could be dicey. Luckily we're north of DFW so rather than Mad Max it we can find our way well past the metroplex before heading south. But looking like this will be a non-issue thank goodness!

What's the story on Jacksonville?

I think he was talking about Jackson, MS and I believe the issue is lot of construction on I-20 that you can avoid most of by taking I-49 down to I-10 instead.

There has been construction on I-10 in Mississippi just past the Louisiana border for quite a while. Not bad normally, but can be an issue when roads are a bit heavy.
