Anyone ever do any of these and what do you recommend?

I am thinking of taking my 14 year old son to Europe for a Music Festival this summer. He likes all kinds of music and I am leaning towards Mad Cool Fest in Madrid in mid July. He speaks Spanish pretty well, the lineup seems good enough, and Spain kicks butt. He and I would probably do a Bicycle tour for 3-4 days, do the festival on Wednesday and Friday while chilling around town on Thursday, then head to Barcelona on the bullet train for a couple days before heading home.

I am also looking at one of the Iron Maiden shows, but I haven't narrowed that down to a particular festival. I think if you go metal, you gotta do it in Germany or one of the Slavic countries to get the full vibe. Maybe Norway. Hmmm.

Is this a decent plan?

My wife loves music festivals (mainly EDM) and we've gone to the Tomorrowland music festival in Belgium the last 2 years.

Both times we've done it similar to what you have set up.

Tomorrowland is Friday-Sunday so what we've done both times is head overseas to a destination (2024 was Holland, 2025 was France) the weekend before and spend 4-5 days there. We then would take a train to Brussels and stay there for the festival. When it was over, we headed off for another 4-6 days in a new place (2024 was Italy, 2025 was UK/Ireland)
