Not to sound defeatest, but this is a decent result for this team. I think we have to accept that we may not ever be what we once were.

Lauren shot 100% FG glad to see her get back into a scoring groove! Was impressed by Salese, I remember seeing that she had a 30pt game at the end of last season.

Also, I guarantee you Gary Blair has massive respect for Bill Brock (Tarleton's coach). He won 3 nattys with Baylor as an assistant coach. Yeah we should've easily won by at least 20+, but there were also 12 missed free throws.

I've seen Kansas State play and they needed a buzzer beater to beat an awful SMU team and then they beat Lamar. They don't have the outside shooting they had last year and they seem to be a whole different team without Ayoka Lee and Sundell. It'll be an interesting test to see how we play against a power 4 team.

Kansas State plays South Dakota at 4, I'll try to watch

As for Hawaii, Colorado looks to be much better than last year and like a tournament team. They played Louisville close. VCU and UTA look extremely awful. VCU lost to Villanova by 34 and UTA lost by double digits to Missouri State. I'm worried for our RPI headed into conference.

This is, by far, the most frustrating part.

Our next opponent Kansas State just got upset by South Dakota at home. They also needed a buzzer beater to beat a bad SMU team. They had a senior heavy team last season that made the sweet sixteen but are starting over new with a bunch of freshman. They beat us by 49 last year. They don't have a lot of size, but they have a 6'5 center who is aggressive and loves to get to the line. They are aggressive and love getting to the basket. They shot 24 more free throws and 39 overall in the loss. Their guards are aggressive defensively and play a tough man defense up high. So we need to be setting good screens and making some three's. They do return Taryn Sides who made 5 three's against us last year. We'll see if we can compete with them, they haven't looked good yet so maybe we can give them a game. This will be a solid test to see where we stand amongst another power 4 team.

Let's Bring Sydney Carter home to coach them

Most folks here were ready to run Blair out on a rail. Sounds like Joni fits that legacy just fine…
