Also- Has there ever been talk of combining presidents cup and Ryder cup?

Instead of the dumb fedex cup you could have a fedex global golf competition

Start with a round robin where they each play each other over two day with morning foursomes and afternoon fourballs.


Top scoring team qualifies for THE Ryder cup
Teams two and three then play a one day 12 singles matches to see who advances

Then make the Ryder cup formatted like presidents cup starting on Thursday. Announce pairings in more spectacle way. Etc


Or make it all the Ryder cup and make the final a two day event between the finalist where you had two foursome matches. Two four ball matches. Four singles matches …. All starting at the same time.

Ryder Cup is unwatchable. Thanks to rude loud obnoxious fans. I know that's just the natural state of folks from New York and New Jersey but it ruins the atmosphere and embarrasses normal Americans.

The highlights with the sound off is a collection of amazing and memorable shots.

Agree & disagree…. Absolutely need to scrap the current President's Cup format and reconstruct into smaller teams from all over the world including the U.S. and Europe.

Firmly believe most of the U.S. players have "team" fatigue from having to participate every year and it negatively affects their mentality in the Ryder Cup.

The Ryder Cup is awesome. We're getting fleeced and every decision we made as the host country is responsible for it. That doesn't mean the structure needs to change.

Yes NY/NJ fans are largely a joke but we also didn't even play into that, which would have helped us. Instead we neutered it before the event started with constant warnings and finger wagging.

YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME. Euros do. We don't and then we question ourselves after.

Part of the reason the fans have been SO bad is that the US team has been so uncompetitive that the fans are taking it on themselves to make a difference. It's not working and we are getting boatraced. The fans have had little to cheer for.

Or just make the Presidents Cup a AAA breeding ground of sorts for our Ryder Cup team. Limit participation to players under 25s and let potential future captains audition.

I have to admit, as big of a golf fan as I am, I didn't watch 1 second of the Ryder Cup this year. Just no interest. I think I'm just tired of watching grown men acting like 3 year old kids (the golfers) and grown men acting like drunk *******s (the fans).

Just a waste of my time.

Couldn't disagree more. All that was said for months leading up to this was "New York fans are crazy! Its going to be brutal out there!" All that does is feed more into it and make them try to live up to it and one up each other.

Not to mention 10 of 12 on the Euro team live in the US full time. They complain about American fans yet they chose to leave the country they were born and raised in to live here.

Straka, Rahm, Lowery, Aberg would be like silver back gorillas compared to our country club guys.

Sirius/XM Golf channel had a good point this morning. Said Keegan Bradley and PGA America should have been hammering home to the lead up of the RC that the crowds should be loud, but respectful. Should have made a greater emphasis that unruly fans would be kicked out like you see at other sporting events.

I knew the fans would be terrible in New York, but they were apparently brutal at Whistling Straights as well according to the Euros that played in that RC.

Didn't help they were selling tall boys at 9am.

Couldn't agree more and appreciate Tom Watson's comments about being ashamed to be an American. PGA commish tried to talk it down comparing the fans at Beth Page to those in Rome. I would agree if he meant the fall of the Roman Empire with a similar atmosphere of depravity and debauchery.
