Interested to see if anyone else has had a chance to play the newly renovated Meadowbrook course in East Fort Worth and your thoughts.

This is my home course so the new layout has been a big source of intrique for me ($20+ Million invested by the City of FW).

I've had the chance to play twice now with a 4 man (Oct-17) & 2 man (Nov-2) scramble.

Here's a bit of history:

1922- Original Designer: John Bredemus, also known for Colonial CC, Ridglea CC, Rockwood GC, among many others throughout Texas and New Mexico.

1963 - Ralph Plummer, Renovation

1995 - Tim Liddy, Restoration

2025 - John Colligan and Trey Kemp (Colligan Golf Design, Arlington, TX)
- Rockwood Park Golf Course - 2017
- Squaw Valley CC, Glen Rose
- Hawks Creek CC, Westworth Village
- Mansfield National GC
- Shady Oaks CC, Fort Worth
- River Crest CC, Fort Worth

Old vs. New Course parameters:

Old layout: Par 71
Blue- 6,363 yds
White - 5,966 yds
Red - 5.000 yds

New layout: Par 70
Black - 6,400 yds
Blue - 5,738 yds
White - 5,110 yds
Red - 4,221 yds

*Blue/White Combo - 5,353 yds
*White/Red Combo - 4,550 yds

Impressions:

The familiarity of the old layout will be immediately recognizable for any returning players, albeit, from a mostly reversed perspective. i.e. the putting green for Old #9 is now the Tee Box for New #1.

The new layout lends itself to a more player friendly approach. In fact, I could see a polished southpaw having a lot of fun on this course!

The Six (6) different scoring variations seem like a great way to host golfers of all levels. Though, I admit I have no idea how this impacts USGA handicaps.

- Putting greens are a tick fast for my liking but very consistent.
- Fairways are honest and easy to find with a consistent tee shot. They also provide a nice amount of cushion for the occasionally errant strikes.
- Chipping can be spongy around the greens in a few spots as the course settles in.
- Rate of Play is heavy at times due to the current demand during prime hours. Otherwise, no big deal.
- Dinosaur Juice Golf Carts, but no GPS! Be sure to bring your Rangefinder since course yardage markers seem non-existent.

Would love to hear anyone else's perspective! Also, if anyone in the Fort Worth/Dallas area uses BenchApp and needs an extra player, I'd be happy to join.

Take care, All.

I haven't hit a ball in over 18 months but I'm itching to get back and will make this my first stop.

I probably played the old layout over 50 times as a kid, when it was $4 to play all day. Was a great layout.

Randomly played it a few weeks ago on a work trip and thought it was really awesome. Love the layout, the elevation changes and blind shots. Course was in great shape a little wet from a rain spell I think but it was awesome.

Was very pleasantly surprised.

Im another person that grew up on Meadowbrook as a kid. It was also my HS team's daily practice course (other than Texas Star). I feel like every "first" I've experienced in golf happened out there.

Im looking forward to trying out the new design, though it will be a little bittersweet im sure (much like after the Rockwood redesign).

Im glad to hear the positive reviews.

Howdy cr06gis,

Oakridge Owl - Oakland Blvd/Broadcast-Hill guy here. Sounds like you attended Nolan Catholic HS? I don't recall Temple Christian playing at Meadowbrook or Waterchase. Unless you played for the Eastern Hills Highlanders which would be totally fricking awesome!

The Eastside survives = )
