I know there was a thread about Corps outfits and their culture, but search is not my friend and I couldnt find it.

My kids are doing Spend the Night with the Corps this Winter. I've got one interested in medical/vetinary with any service and another interested in doing NROTC and engineering. Are there any outfits that focus on those areas?

Company A-2 has historically focused on "pre-professional" majors like pre-med, vet, dental, nursing, etc. A-2 has been an excellent outfit and I would highly recommend them if your student is really focused on medical/vet school. This is not to say they can't succeed academically in other outfits so don't necessarily think that A-2 is the only option.

Once upon a time there were outfits that focused on Engineering but these days well over half of incoming freshmen in Engineering so you will find that most outfits have a large number of Engineers. I would advise your student who is interested in Engineering/NROTC to focus more on the outfit culture of the NROTC outfits. Pick one and get to campus soon for a Spend the Night program to learn more about the outfit. During the visit he can also learn a little about the other outfits and potentially spend the night with other outfits.

Thank you. My NROTC is going to spend the night with my old outfit. My other one is going to stay with E2, I dont think she is terribly interested in the Corps, but militray programs that will pay for Vet or Med school. Appreciate the information on the engineers.

An ROTC scholarship at A&M pays for tuition, books, room and board (only at A&M), and spending money. If she goes the med school route after graduation in the military she's a Lieutenant getting paid to go to school. Do the same thing as a regular student, even with scholarships, she's most likely starting her internship with a couple hundred thou in debt. Unless you're paying for it all.

Ill pay for the bachor's degree. She will be looking for alternative methods of funding fkr med/vet school.

Also look into a SMP (Simultaneous Membership Program). You joint the Reserve/Guard and begin drilling with them as a Cadet (E5). This starts your time in for pay. You can utilize tuition assistance, drill pay and still get the stipend that is given out for being contract. This allows you to start drilling with a unit in the military and get used to what is actually going at the Battle Assembly's.
