Thinking of getting one. Opinions? Don't want to spend more than 600.

Do they make any for men?

Husband had a stick burner and received a recteq bullseye as a gift and we use it 4x a week easily. It's so quick, easy and good. He can do ribs or a brisket and we aren't stuck at home worried about the fire. Young kids and busy lifestyle it's a no brainer -do it.

BTW, don't just use plain charcoal. I mostly use lump charcoal with chunks of wood thrown in as well. Can easily cook 10 hours unattended if I want to.
That's about right from my experience and research as well. I find it the perfect compromise between flavor and effort to get a good result. It's only downside (usually) is cost.Cassius said:javajaws said:Shhh....most people don't know about these.'03ag said:

I watched a blind taste test on Bar BBQ scientist the other day. He used an offset, gravity fed coal and pellet. I think the gravity fed came in second as far as smoke flavor. Don't quote me. The offset was picked best by all tasters, I do remember that.
Mine is homebuilt, on a whole 'nother level than a Masterbuilt. The cook chamber is insulated with 2" mineral wool and the cooking furnace area is 1/2" steel lined with fire brick. It's pretty darn energy efficient. It's mostly a clone of this Stump's smoker with some of my own ideas thrown in as well: https://stumpssmokers.com/the-classic/'03ag said:
Which one you have? My Masterbuilt will run through a whole load of lump in like 6 hours at 250. Only drawback I've found. But lots of people say theirs goes for more like 10 hours so I wonder what I'm doing wrong. I've used Kamajo Joe, B&B and cowboy(Costco) lump charcoal. All performed the same.

Too good to be true = scam. YMMV
