Depends on how you want to cook OP.

You want a hobby/tinker with something. (Stick burner)

You want convenience and probably more consistent product? Pellett

I personally think its fun to tinker with the fire and sticks, but to each their own.

Money no object: Memphis elite (solid stainless steel, insulated.). Also have other models that are less expensive but still all stainless steel. Gets very hot for searing. Not a lot of user reviews on these.

Expensive but good: Traeger Timberline or ironwood series.

Best for most people: RecTec. RecTec has a good reputation with reliability and service. different sizes.

Good economical price: Pitboss (have heard they have bad service), Z-grils, Camp chef. all about the same.

specialty type for the dads: Pitts and Spitts, Yoder. Can be customized to your liking. Yoder used to be the flavor of the month.

Give it some consideration: Weber smokefire. all in one high heat for searing and low and slow for smoking. Lots of issues with 1st generation. 2nd generation not near as bad. Can get front and side shelves (accessories) which seem to be missing on a lot of pellet grills. Priced around RecTec.

Good luck

That's the point. "Honey, I can', I have to watch the fire."

Sounds like a well seasoned married man. You young Thundercats need to take notes.

I have Primo with a Digiq and love it.
Also have a propane Weber for super quick crap.

To each their own.

LOL. I'm just gonna list every brand by price and offer no help!

And how are probably the two best options "specialty types for dads"

Just pulled the trigger on a Traeger Timberline 850. Looking forward to experimenting with it as a lifelong stick burner guy.
