Without a dehydrator, is there any better way than the oven with just the light on? I've done basil and oregano this way, and the results are decent.

Even hang drying works if you have a clean/dry space.

I own a dehydrator but I find the oven is easier personally. I put my herbs on a baking sheet and put in a cold oven. Turn on to 200 and then turn off either when I start to smell the herbs or it hits 200. I leave the door closed and let them sit. For me, the brief but low heat from the oven helps speed up the process.

Have you had good results from this? Maybe I haven't done it correctly, but my attempts have turned out bland with a "cooked" flavor, not at all herb-like.

Works better on woody herbs. Seems to be better when I do it with short bursts (that's what she said).
