Anyone join one of these?

My small team is thinking of getting a subscription as a baby gift to our boss. Any suggestions of who to use? Was thinking of https://craftbeerclub.com/

I'm sure it's overpriced, but we know he likes beer and this seems cooler than an Amazon GC or something from a baby store.

Budget will probably be like $4-500.

I know nothing about this site but I'm guessing it's not going to be great. Will probably end up with some pretty generic and/or old beer.

I know it's not a subscription, but I'd use Tavour. Or just hit up a total wine/HEB/local beer shop. If you stick to mostly sours, stouts, etc. then they can sit a while and it won't be an issue so he can enjoy them throughout the year.

I did this exact club about 5 years ago, and almost every shipment was the same. One beer was really good, two different IPAs (which I hate) and one flavored beer that was sometimes good, sometimes not. I got a PB&J beer from like Delaware that was one of the most disgusting things I've ever put in my mouth. I didn't renew because it was so IPA heavy, but maybe that's changed.

Well darn. Anyone with a good experience? Not sure how much he likes IPAs, when we hit HH he seems to go for dark stuff (dark/stouts not my thing so don't pay attention on details).

Or how about whiskey? There a good way to spend $500 on a whiskey club? Or bottle(s) of good stuff that is readily attainable?

https://www.tavour.com/gifts (if he prefers stouts, https://www.tavour.com/product/stout-gift-box-set)
or

Either would make a great gift for a serious beer fan.

Don't order anything that should be consumed fresh from Tavour unless you like two month old IPAs that spend a couple of weeks in a hot warehouse before they get to you.

I've used Craft Beer Club for a gift- the beer selection was good and varied.

I was gifted a few shipments from the Rare Beer Club a while back. FWIW I think it's a much better setup than one that does IPAs. I got 2 bombers every other month, and the styles centered around stuff that is great now or later on down the road, like stouts, sours, and Belgians.

A lot of what you should do OP is dependent on if he's really big into one style over another. Use that to dictate what y'all do.

The gift that keeps on giving the whole year.

Thanks, that Rare Beer Club I think is the way to go. Sort of breaks the budget, but think it's more his style.

$18 for a six pack of beer that will cost $8-$9 at your local breweries.

yes that's overpriced.

That club does not appear to have much of a carefully curated list of breweries.
