Dual Probe ThermoPro which can monitor air temp and food temp and a Thermapen are all you'll need.

For pretty much anyone cooking at home, the thermapen pop will work just fine and save $$$.

I have the multi-probe thermometer linked below and a Thermapen. The one linked below allows me to keep tabs on the air temp and meat temps for multiple cuts of meat. It uses Bluetooth to allow me to keep tabs on the temps from my phone, so I can more easily multi-task

Also a vote for Thermapen. On weekends it pretty much just stays in my pocket all day.

I have had a Thermapop for several years, and have not been able to justify spending the extra money for a Thermapen. It's worked great and is fast enough.

I'm likely crazy, but have a thermopop and 3 thermapens and while it works ok, I never use the thermopop as it is significantly slower than the thermapen. I use a thermapen more than any other kitchen device.

Would you recommend the Meater? Texas Star Grills sells a "Maverick" which looks to be similar to the Meater but less expensive.
