Any must-eat places in Shreveport?

Gonna be there Friday-Sunday.

Only places currently on my itinerary are Sportsman's Cafe at Bally's (if it is still there) for their gumbo and I'll probably grab a burger at 800 degrees at Horseshoe if I gamble there. They have a pizza and gelato pop-up there, might try the gelato. Think I'll be at a tailgate Saturday afternoon but dinner Saturday and lunch Sunday are open.

Any places I should try out?

Superior Bar and Grill for Mexican, but Superior Steakhouse may be the best meal in town.
Herby K's - may not be open for dinner Sat and probably closed on Sunday.

Grab a Humphrey Yogart at Counter Culture for a sweet treat
El Compadre's if you want Mexican
Lucky Palace if you want Chinese.

Sadly, the food scene in Shreveport has never been the absolute best.

The food at Superior Bar and Grill really isn't that great. People just go for the strong margaritas.

I don't disagree, Mexican in La is not really your best choice. The Superior Steakhouse is legit, though!

Had the gumbo at Sportsman's Cafe for dinner, I honestly had forgotten how excellent their gumbo is.

I drove by Lucky Palace, if I feel like Chinese on this trip, I'll hit them up.

One of the cooks at the pizza pop-up at 8 OZ at Horseshoe was arranging dough balls. I asked him how much each dough ball weighed, he didn't know. Don't think I'll be trying their pizza.

The Thai Basil Shrimp at Lucky Palace is outstanding. Only issue is that the place is adjacent to a crack motel.

That part on Lucky Palace was amazing...the wine list part was jaw dropping espically the part where the girl from Commanders Palace said they had bottles that they would dream to have at Lucky Palace. I've heard that old boy that runs Lucky Palace will invite you to sit down and order a crap ton of food which is all amazing but then leave you stuck with the bill... Had a buddy said he got hit will an $1100 tab one time. Did say the food was beyond amazing and his party all kicked in to pay it off.

I had some stellar jambalaya at the stadium, but no idea who made it, it was catered.

Hit Sportsman's Cafe again on Saturday night for just gumbo because I grazed all through the game.

Hit 8 OZ for a burger before I left on Sunday.

They had someone stabbing the pizza dough with a fork to make their thin crust pizzas, so yeah, glad I opted out of that one early. Also, their 'brick oven' is gas powered, and that's a strong no for me.

Buzzy, glad you had some good food. I just found out that my buddy is the new Player Development manager at Bally's - if you head that way again, shoot me a message and I'll connect the 2 of you - he's a good guy.

Is Player Development a new title for casino host?

Nope, a very old one. But yes, he is in charge of the hosts.

I know your trip is over, but for future trips or readers of this forum, I'll suggest Po Boy Express. Stopped by a month ago as i was going through Shreveport and was really impressed with with the food and pricing. I very much enjoyed my sizable "Rajun Cajun" sandwich. The owner takes your order and is very active in the dining room. Also seemed like there are tons of regulars. I would definitely stop there again.
