Does anyone have a set of tumblers or rocks glasses they like for making cocktails? I've almost broken most of mine (they haven't fared well when I tap them with a muddler), so I'm looking for some glassware with some heft. Doesn't need to be anything fancy. I just want something that's a little more durable.

Not helpful, but I have a set I love and I am down to my last one. They are hefty in a good way, and they stand up great to muddlers and heavy use, but have not fared so well when dropped on tile floors. I have no idea where they came from or what brand they are. They were likely cheap though, because I've had them since I was a poor student.

I've bought 3-4 other "nicer" sets over the years that look pretty close, but when I get them they are never quite the same, always much thinner and they feel too delicate in my hand. Many of those are now broken too, mainly from the dishwasher or aggressive muddling/stirring/etc. The heavy duty glass of my original set is perfect.

This is the next set I am thinking of trying, but I am not confident they won't be garbage:

I got a nice Mikasa set for a groomsmen gift. One of two groomsmen gifts (that werent alcohol) that was worth a damn.

You are probably going to either want some cheap barware from restaurant supply or a high quality cut crystal set.

Cheap and replace often or expensive and replace less often (but you are still going to replace)

I really like my Riedel glasses of all kinds.

Weird enough picked up some on super close out from Best Buy in Jan 2021. Guess it was Christmas stock for them.

Just bought some. If we hate them, it won't be the worst $12 I've spent.

Total Wine has a few selections of heavy rocks glasses. Lugio Bormiglio Classic is the brand name. Spelling may be incorrect.

I have these. Bormioli makes really great general purpose glassware.

My favorite source for cocktail glassware is estate sales. I've picked up Waterford cocktail glasses of all various sorts for as little as $2 a glass. Sometimes I get lucky and find a set of 4 or more in good shape, but it's also fun to find singles too. There's no rule that says your home bar glasses have to all match.

Have some fun with the glassware.

You should see my stemware. It's a mishmash of winery glasses, Riedel, and Schott Zweisel.

I picked up a six pack of the Bormioili Rocco tumblers. They seem pretty good so far. They're not fancy, but look like they will tolerate muddling and won't break easily.

I've had my set for about six years, I think. No chips, no breakage, they stack well. I won't say they're unbreakable, of course, but they are extremely sturdy.

I have a variety of colorful hand blown glass ones - because that's my thing - but those Waterford linked above are a classic set. As some of my old clear pieces are retired I will probably pick them up.

Found one of these at an estate sale recently. It's hefty with a slight seam. Not high-end crystal. But a nice set at around $40.

I'm a glass snob - wine, martini, cocktail, etc.

I'm not at the house to verify dimensions, however I'm pretty sure these are the rocks glasses I use. Love them.

Edit: I suppose I should include a link.

Nothing to add other than I was pleasantly surprised to see Crate and Barrel still carries the line of bar glasses we received as a wedding gift 15 years ago.

At some point one of the double old fashioned glasses chipped on the rim and had to be trashed so that nobody ended up getting cut.

Only having 3 when making drinks for 4 always irked me (I'm a fan of symmetry). It was worth my wife dragging me into the store last weekend to see this on the shelf and recomplete the set.

Staff - take out the trash.

Yeah these aren't the top end stuff but they are nice and have a hefty feel to them. Plus I have no reservations about tossing them in the dishwasher, solidly daily drinker although I like those straight rimmed Zeiss that were linked as well
