Any suggestions for a pork shoulder? Was thinking of doing a pastor or something in the oven.

Anyone got some good recipe ideas? Don't want to fire up the smoker this cold ass weekend.

Mojo Marinade and roast Puerto Rican style in the oven. The canned OJ is the best sub for sour orange juice. I'll typically inject some of the mojo as well

I'll usually serve with pigeon pea (or black bean) rice and fried plantains

I like just a plain roasted pork shoulder sometimes.

This is an excellent choice. I do this often when I have guests over because it's cheap and feeds a bunch of people. Be sure to do the sauces and condiments as well (the fresh oysters are awesome with it if you feel like shucking oysters too).
This one is great as well if you're wanting something a little spicy. Cook it to about 185-190 for sliceable meat, or take it to 200-205 to pull it (I prefer the lower sliceable temp. https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/pork-shoulder-aldiavolo/amp
Look up some other Korean recipes if you're looking for something spicy and a little funky.

Why it's called bean chalupa is beyond me but it's a recipe that came from my family in Bakersfield. Super simple and gets better each day.

Pound of dried pintos, pork roast, 1/2 chopped onion, garlic, chili powder salt and pepper and 3 cans of green chili's. Cook with 6 cups of water for about 4 hours. Shred roast and simmer another 30 minutes. Serve over corn chips wit lettuc, onions, tomatoes cheese etc. goes well in a tortilla on day 2.

couldn't find the korean soybean paste in stores so I just got BiBimmbop (whatever it's called) sauce instead. Appears to have all the same ingredients - gochujang, onion, sesame seed oil, garlic, salt, and soybean paste. I'll add some honey like the homemade one.

pork is roasting now... it called for 1 cup of sugar and salt for the rub - THATS A TON. I used half and it was caked on the shoulder.

will be making the korean slaw with it, sticky rice and got the lettuce wraps. If it's a total bust... oh well, $6 pork butt gone (on sale for 80cents/LB)

Sous vide at 170 for 24hrs with seasoning of your choice. We do this for sliders when we don't have time to baby sit a smoker

Bo Ssam was really good! As expected, the meat was a bit too salty and that's with HALF of what the recipe called for. I'll do less next time and probably do more of a BBQ rub. The slaw, sauce, lettuce wraps and sticky rice were great though.

Cheap and relatively easy meal!
