This is an excellent choice. I do this often when I have guests over because it's cheap and feeds a bunch of people. Be sure to do the sauces and condiments as well (the fresh oysters are awesome with it if you feel like shucking oysters too).
This one is great as well if you're wanting something a little spicy. Cook it to about 185-190 for sliceable meat, or take it to 200-205 to pull it (I prefer the lower sliceable temp. https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/pork-shoulder-aldiavolo/amp
Look up some other Korean recipes if you're looking for something spicy and a little funky.
couldn't find the korean soybean paste in stores so I just got BiBimmbop (whatever it's called) sauce instead. Appears to have all the same ingredients - gochujang, onion, sesame seed oil, garlic, salt, and soybean paste. I'll add some honey like the homemade one.
pork is roasting now... it called for 1 cup of sugar and salt for the rub - THATS A TON. I used half and it was caked on the shoulder.
will be making the korean slaw with it, sticky rice and got the lettuce wraps. If it's a total bust... oh well, $6 pork butt gone (on sale for 80cents/LB)
