I like Mauviel personally. I mix and match their stainless and copper. Have some le Creuset enameled cast iron as well. Those things are tough and heat evenly.

Really depends on what you want to spend. When I had to outfit our condo in a hurry, I got the Williams Sonoma Tri-clad stainless 10-piece set plus 8, 10, & 12" non-stick from Ace Mart and an 8qt La Cruset. Pretty good start for well under a grand.

If you don't have to worry about a budget, stepping up to All-Clad or Mauviel can be fun.

I have one of their blue carbon steal pans. I'm happy with it.

Bought a set of SS All Clad in 1999 that I wash in the dishwasher and it all still looks pretty much brand new.

Also have 3-4 Le Crueset pieces that are excellent.

I have a nonstick pan and a carbon steel paella pan from them. No complaints at all.

Same here. Bought All Clad in 2000. Still going strong. They have now averaged out about $50 year and dropping.

This is a quality set and much cheaper than the all clad stuff. I have been very pleased with ours.

I have 3 or 4 pieces. Love them as much as my pieces of all clad. I tend to buy piece by piece, as I figure out what I need. I don't buy sets, as there are some I will never use.

I have several pieces of Made In (along with their beautiful red wine glasses).

I love it all. I have a 12-inch and 10-inch carbon steel; a 3.5-quarter saucier; and a couple of stainless steel pans. I also have their carbon steel grilling pan, which I use all the time in the summer.

I didn't buy a set. Just bought a piece at a time. It's good quality stuff.

ETA ... also have a Made In chef's knife with an olivewood handle that is awesome.

Have quite a few Le Crueset pots/dutch ovens. Heavy but damn bulletproof.

Also have a set of Mauviel copper pans. I would buy the matte finish as opposed to the shiny finish. I know these terms aren't the official Mauviel terms, buy you will get the point if you shop for them.
