You can think what you want about his coaching, I can respect that he faces criticism head on. He's not trying to make excuses. I hate when coaches give bull crap excuses.

I definitely get some of the criticism, some goes too far. I'm not putting a ceiling on Buzz or the team, we'll see what happens. Hoping the boys can get it going again. Some teams get hot almost every year in college basketball in the 2nd half of the season and make a special run.

After watching his interview, I'm thinking maybe our guys just have stat sheet overload. Buzz tracks everything sounds like.

I listened to the press conference. What is talking about? Tangibles, Intangibles, Data on this, data on that. I think what is trying to say is we basically have to be perfect and over achieve to win.

He just got beat by a brand new coach with all new players. And really the game wasnt close. They were better start to finish. He loses with 4 and 5 year guys that have played together for 3 years. That right there tells you about coaching

Get some talent on your staff and go recruit. Raise money for NIL. He talks how experienced his staff is but we cant run a play to get someone open. If your staff hasn't had offers to be a head coach they are average. What Buzz has is a bunch of yes men. Just like Jimbo. They cater to his ego.

I think he is going to leave. He has got nothing coming back. Payne will get swooped up by a blue blood in the portal. He will leave it worse than he found it. Now at this point who is going to hire him. Virginia, Utah, Indiana, are open.

Buzz strikes me as a guy who wants to be a quant but doesn't really know what he's looking at. I've been around hundreds of extremely smart people with real quant training in both academia and the real world who still get it wrong. Guys who obsess of petabytes of data but don't really know how what is signal and what is noise.

Buzz obsesses over things that he thinks are key indicators, like he's found the sorcerer's stone that nobody else has. But generally, if your "analysis" is in a 100% different direction than literally every other basketball program it's probably you who are off.

If this plays out like other seasons under Buzz, we'll figure this out and flip a switch. Maybe it's a good thing it's happening this late in the season so we get hot at exactly the right time.

I wanna see how the rest of the season plays out. I do expect an L at Florida and then to beat LSU

But A&M doesn't care about basketball so I don't see them hiring anyone better than Buzz regardless of how much I wish he cared more about talent.

This year will be solely judged by March. This is the most experience we've had under Buzz. Even Kennedy was able to get to the sweet 16(twice)…my two concerns and what I believe will get us bounced in March. 3 pt defending and long scoreless droughts. Hallmarks of a Buzz team here unfortunately. It's like we never learned from the Penn State debacle.

BK getting to Sweet 16 was pure luck; his team was a dumpster fire the other seasons we didn't make the tournament.

I don't think Buzz is leaving nor do I think anyone should be calling for his head. Who do yall think we are??

We have NEVER made it past the Sweet Sixteen. We are not some perennial power house who dominates in basketball. Hell our fan turnout last night was pathetic. 60k students and we couldn't get more to go watch the #12 team??

Buzz has led us to our fourth straight 20+ win season. The only other coach to do that for us was Mark Turgeon and he left because our students and fans never showed out for his teams that competed night after night.

Was last night frustrating to watch? Of course. Is it aggravating to lose 3 straight knowing we'll probably drop the next two? Obviously. But acting like Buzz is the problem is absurd. Our team was GARBAGE when he got here and now we are about to go dancing for the third straight year.

and this is the answer.

buzz teams have had these swoons at different times
of the season every year. they then follow it up with red hot basketball for the next 4-6 games. this season absolutely should not be judged until it's over.

People thinking we should fire buzz is actually a good litmus test for whether they live in reality or not and are even worth discussing things with.

You think we have some flaws that need fixing? - 100%
You think Buzz should change up his coaching philosophies? - maybe!
You think if he chooses to leave and we can hire on the open market we'll end up in a better situation? - historically unlikely but not a completely outlandish take! Who knows!
You think we should actually fire Buzz? - get out

Aggie basketball history before the 70's, and frankly before Gillespie, is irrelevant. Ever since Billy G elevated the program we have made the tournament about 50% of the time.

We have more often than not embraced the up and coming hire, and every single coach no matter the recruits has struggled to find reliable offense.

Buzz has been VERY good as far as season results go, but barring an Elite 8 or better this year, will have about the same tourney results as Turgeon and Kennedy. A sweet 16 would get him more in the Billy G camp with tournament results.

Buzz is a phenomenal developer of character and runs a very clean and very admirable program. The guys play extremely hard and do all the little things it takes to win. Whether Buzz is incapable of putting an offense together to get us over the hump, or it truly is the Jimmies, this postseason will define his career here. Because next year is going to be rough if he returns, even with a load of transfers.

This program is capable of recruiting at a high enough level. The big issue is there doesn't seem to be the institutional and fan dedication, especially on the NIL front, to truly get us over the hump of the "happy to make the tournament every other year" club.

If we lose Buzz, we likely sacrifice short term pain and have to hope to hit a home run on and up and comer. And those are risky, as we are a stepping stone school because of the lack of wide spread support.

While buzz annoys the hell out of me with some things he does, there's some thing he does extraordinarily well. His ability to get guys to buy into the "dirty work" like rebounds, loose balls, etc is astounding. I feel like we got 2/3 of the puzzle down. Anyone thinking we're gonna find a Buzz upgrade is a dummy.


I hope that Buzz sticks around for a while and is able to drum up some more donor support but it'll be very slow going.
