Cement Dement as the league’s best player this week.

On Tuesday, Texas A&M second baseman KK Dement was named the Southeastern Conference’s Co-Player of the Week after a successful week against Prarie View A&M and then-No. 16 Georgia.

The Aggie shares the accolade with Arkansas’ Bri Ellis.

Dement hit an astonishing .600 (6-for-10) with 10 RBIs, including a grand slam and solo shot against the Bulldogs in Saturday’s doubleheader.

The freshman paced the Aggies with a career-high five RBIs in game one, which included her second grand slam of the season.

Dement’s eight homers on the season are the most by a freshman since Katie Dack hit 13 in 2022.

She sits in second on the team in total bases (67), home runs (8) and third in slugging percentage (.644) and runs batted in (35).

One of many talented freshmen on Trisha Ford’s third-year roster, Dement has inserted herself into the lineup and stayed, starting at second base and a handful at shortstop while veteran Koko Wooley was sidelined.

Called “the shortstop of the future” by Ford, Dement has helped the program make unbelievable strides, coming in at No. 3 in Week 9’s ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll.

This is the first SEC weekly honor of Dement’s young career.
