
Around Aggieland (6/20)
On Friday, Callie Garner took us Around Aggieland as Texas A&M baseball reloaded with impact transfers, Mike Elko continued to bolster his 2026 recruiting class with summer additions and the 2025-26 SEC opponents were unveiled for both men’s and women’s hoops.
Baseball
Texas A&M baseball added two key transfers this week in left-handed pitcher Ethan Darden from Clemson and shortstop Chris Hacopian from Maryland.
- Darden, a veteran arm, recorded 121 strikeouts over 162 innings for the Tigers with a 2.24 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
- Hacopian, a major addition for head coach Michael Earley, slashed .375/.502/.656 with 14 home runs and 61 RBIs in 2025.
Football
Head coach Mike Elko landed three commitments this week, including defensive lineman Samuel Roseborough (Clearwater, Fla.), running back KJ Edwards (Carthage, Texas), and five-star athlete Brandon Arrington (Spring Valley, CA).
The Aggies are surging on the recruiting trail in June and aim to carry momentum into July.
Men’s Basketball
Texas A&M men's basketball released its SEC opponents for the 2026 season, the first under head coach Bucky McMillan.
- Seven of A&M’s nine conference home opponents made the NCAA Tournament in 2025, including national champion Florida, Kentucky, Texas and Oklahoma.
- The Aggies will play 18 league games — nine at home and nine on the road — with home-and-away matchups against LSU, Texas and Oklahoma.
- Conference play begins Jan. 3 and runs through March 7. The full schedule, including dates and TV assignments, will be announced at a later date.
Women’s Basketball
Texas A&M women’s basketball also learned its 2026 SEC opponents this week.
- The Aggies will play 16 conference games, including a home-and-home series with Oklahoma.
- Six of A&M’s eight home opponents reached the NCAA Tournament in 2025, including national runner-up South Carolina.
- Road opponents include Texas, Tennessee and Ole Miss — two of which the Aggies defeated last season.
- The SEC Tournament is scheduled for March 4-8 in Greenville, SC.
Now entering her fourth year, head coach Joni Taylor returns three players from last season, including shot-blocking leader Lauren Ware. The Aggies also added seven transfers, including the nation’s leading defensive rebounder, Fatmata Janneh of Saint Peter’s, and steals leader, Sacred Heart’s Ny’Ceara Pryor, from 2025.
