i used to have the same opinion about mayweather, but he didn't run at all. that hook he caught him with to put him down was vicious.
on the point, mayweather was ducking to the beltline when hatton would get in close, forcing cortez to step in. in this particular instance, hatton was working him inside, mayweather bent over, took a shot, and actually turned around and ducked through the ropes. kind of chicken **** if you ask me. while he was doing this, hatton took a swing at the back of his head that hit the top rope. didn't really connect, but it was clearly intentional. probably the right call.
i was more pissed that mayweather didn't lose a point for throwing elbows in close to create space. he was forearming hatton in the neck all night to create space to throw those little short shots he loves to throw. cortez warned him no less than 5 times, but he never took a point. if he takes a point, and mayweather has to stop throwing forearms... who knows?
well, probably hatton still loses. i had a lot of faith in that guy, but i think i seriously underestimated mayweather's skill. i expected more of what i saw in the de la hoya fight. he traded and moved during the first half of the fight, and as hatton got steamed, he started picking great shots, finished with that amazing counter that ended it.
