My husband is looking to get back into golf and has been wanting some clubs. I am looking to get a nice set for around 300 or so... Any help would be greatly appreciated. He has not played in several years and I am under the impression that he did not play very often even in the past. What do y'all suggest?

Golf Ect. has clevelands on sale for $349-$400. They are pretty nice clubs. Buy a used driver.

You could also check out Ebay or Golfsmith. golfsmith has a used section as well

Academy has several very good namebrand sets in that range for the "I don't play all the time and don't have to have top of the line stuff" crowd.

golfsmith has the best return policy on new clubs

In College Station, you best bets are Golf etc. (ask for Brian) and Play it Again Sports (ask for Dave). In eithe case, he will appreciate a decent set of cavity back irons made within the past 5 years. If he is young, don't waste your money on graphite (except in the woods).Brands such as Callaway, Mizuno, Cleveland & Taylor Made may cost a little more, but you you will have a quality set that will retain some value when you decide to upgrade. You may want to check valueguide.pga.com to see if you are getting a good deal. Expect to pay $100+ for a decent driver and about the same for each wood/hybrid.

Best of Luck.

Never mind, Brian sold the store. Ask for Pat.

Spend money on a putter. You hit your putter on average 36 times/round. Your driver is hit 14/round.

For a most players this is very flawed thinking. While you only normally hit your driver 12-14 times per round, miss-hitting your driver will have a greater effect than the putter you have.
