I read that this was a real nail biter on the womens side...
good swims on the mens side though the gap is much larger.
To those who could attend...how many people were in the stands?

The stands were pretty packed though i couldn't tell you how many were in attendance as i don't know the capacity of the nat. Nail biter is right. Makes me excited that we have a chance to qualify a lot of swimmers (on the women's side) into the NCAA meet and make a name for A&M swimming and diving. To compete with the number 1 team in the nation like they did showed how good they can be.

There were around 500 people or so there..it was about half full

The girls actually had the lead with 2 races to go

it was a good crowd, but many people left at the first break 1. cuz the excitement died down for that 20 minutes, and 2. cuz of the basketball game that started at 3 o clock. wish there was a way to keep people in the stands during/after the breaks. thats when it seems that most people leave.

I wish I had been there. Our close meet with Auburn is just slightly deceiving since 2 of Auburn's best women weren't there. That said - if we had won a few close races instead of 2nd place we might have won outright. This same Auburn team crushed Texas 2 days earlier. I bet the Auburn lineup for Texas was toned down because the score could have been worse.

I think our women have a great chance to finish top 5 this year if they peak at the NCAAs. Since we have decent divers this year maybe Bultman can swim through Big12s this year because we should pound Texas.

Our men are improving but the gap to top 5 is big. Auburn's Cesar Cielo, the fastest 50 free swimmer in the world, didn't even race his two best events (50 and 100 free). We're getting killed in distance events.

Auburn did indeed swim off events against Texas and there was some serious exhibitioning going on there as well

Had A&M won one more individual race, the two 'A' relays would have faced off with the winner taking the meet...it's pretty rare in a dual meet situation that the team that wins the greater amount of events loses the meet, which is what happened in the Aggies' case

Hey LOB - heard anything about Holme's signees? The women's class was announced already but nothing yet for the men. Texas already announced theirs. Jimmy Feigen, from SA Churchill, is going to Texas. I saw him swim a 20.2 in December in San Antonio. I can't imagine him not going 19.8 at State. He will win by a body length.

I can tell you the aforementioned backstroker was signed in November...I saw him swim on Saturday and can tell you this guy is a keeper...those were the first yards races of his life and he likely has only been practicing with the team no longer than a week or so
