Why was it a world shaking event?



HAPPINESS IS A WHITE TOWER

Was it the Miracle on Ice? I think it was about this time. I was a Senior and it was an amazing event. The game was not on live, so we had all heard the score before the replay that night. I went over to a friend's apartment and watched it. We didn't know much about hockey, but we knew the importance of the event, and talked about the game like we were experts. Even though it wasn't live, we stood and cheered when it was over. We were tired of being bullied on the world wide stage by the Soviets, Iranians, etc. It was an amazing time.

I was in the sixth grade and heading out to a weekend camping trip with the Boy Scouts. We didn't know about it until, when we arrived at the camp site, some of the boys were jumping around screaming -- the news had come over the radio in a couple of the cars that were caravaning. Suddenly, all of us boys were running around, high -fiving each other and celebrating.
