why is Shields playing #6, he has never played in a big dual match... i know Makowski has been down a lot, but seems like a guy who was top 10 could at least be a real good #6...is he hurt?

How classy. Resign = quit! I dont care what people think of this guy, but that is classless and shows no heart what so ever. This kid was on top of college tennis two years ago and for whatever reason has not been able to get it back. When I think of an Aggie I dont ever think of a quitter and thats what he has done. It looks as if they have moved on and are better off because of it. One player close to have a totally Coach Denton team and to see what he is made of.

Judging by the number of posters keeping a tight lid on the situation, I would say there is plent more to the story. And anyone who knows Jerry - more specifically his personality - I would wager there is plenty of a story to be told.

Just have to wait and see if someone is willing to stick thier neck out and give Aggie tennis fans a honest assesment..

Good match. We played very poorly in doubles. Can't find a good number three team. Conor was strong at one, Wil got it done on line three, Steven had a big 21st birthday with his win at six, at Matt Bain beat a very good freshman Zach Nichols in three sets on line 5. Only negative was we had some officials who were like a deer in the headlights and made some pretty bad calls, one against Nichols that cost him a game in the third set. Just part of it I suppose, but you hate to see it go down that way. We play a good Wake Forest team on Monday.

Don't be too judgemental of Jerry on this until, if ever the whole story comes out. It does take two to tango and the dance was not pretty.

It seems to me that he quit a long time ago, if you know what I mean. Probably better to give a young guy a chance than to have someone out there giving less than their best.

The current A&M tennis family has evolved into a tight knit dynamic thats consists of players, coaches, donors, and 'others' inside the circle. They don't talk much.

Those of us outside the loop have to hope someone is willing to stand up and give 'normal' fans the truth and not some message board BS.

This is .01% of the story, but it may be all we get. FWIW - I believe that Jerry has been at odds with the program even since his fish year with Cass. I could speculate on what REALLY happend - but Jerry is a good guy and a smart kid - and I refuse to damage any of that with this thread.

I don't understand what that means. It sounds like you are implying he is not at odds w/ coaches but with something else in the program.

It seems like further information would put him in a better light, not do damage to him.

I know absolutely nothing about Jerry's decision but I do know it takes a tremendous committment to play D-1 sports. If you're not enjoying it and don't need the scholarship, I can ceratinly understand anyone quitting and concentrating on their studies and just being a student.

Man, I want to say really bad what happened, but I cant...

Since you're so close to the program why not tell us? Why bother making that post unless you're trying to show off!!!

If it was meant to be known, then I think the athletic dept would make it known. Theres a reason they havent taken him off the roster, and havent announced that he was released from the team for violation of team rules, etc. If other teams think he might show up, that he is hurt, then we have an advantage. Think about it.

I guarantee you that if a bunch of yahoos like us know that he is off the team, every coach in the Big XII does too.

Everyone knows the gist of the story. It's not exactly AggieGrant Big Red territory.

The ENTIRE Big12 knows Jerry is gone.

So do other teams around the country.

So do A&M fans.

The college tennis community is a very small group. There are very few secrets between coaches and schools.

With that said, I would like to nominate this site as college tennis site of the year. Where else can you go to talk about your team and the goings on in the world of intercollegiate tennis.

I would also like to nominate Raven as sportsman of the year and fan of the year in college tennis.

Can I get answer as to where denton graduated from?

I dont know why whoever knows wont just tell us. Its no secret he is off the team, so why doesnt the big secret just be told so all us loyal followers can know.

I know why the insiders won't talk because then they will be booted out of tennis circle. No more free stadium club passes and being able to sit in with the team between the doubles and singles matches...Oh and no free soda.
